I'm not really familiar with how flat side carbs are meant to sound, so I'm not sure if the sound my bike is making is normal. The carbs "tap" when idling (which is normal) but seem to make a bit of the same tapping noise except louder at a particular rev range (around 3k). Is this normal?

It's a video I took right after installing them on antwerks bike.

It's a perfectly normal sound.

All flatslides usually make a lot of noise, the slides have rollers on them, and the clearance that allows them to move also allows the intake reversion/pulses to rattle the slides.

Sounds pretty ****** up if you don't know what your hearing.

Always thought it was the sound of the intake valves opening and closing

These carbs don't have butterflies but a slide/guillotine. Thats why they are called flatslides and not flatsides like many call them...

Quite normal but can be a bit disconcerting when you first hear it.
The tapping usually goes as soon as you start to load the throttle cables.
