Probably right around 0900 since with one stop I am thinking that would out me there a little after 1100. Where would you want to meet up? I am off of 528 at the trade port exit (1 from OIA). I have one errand to run first thing in the morning but should be free starting at 0830.

there's a 7 Eleven off of Exit 9 ( 3911 McCoy Rd ). let's meet up there at, let's say, 8:30ish? it'll be a good place for me to top off the tank and to pop off the cork. i'll need to head back at 3:30 or 4.

That works for me. Looks like we will split up for the return, I am heading into Tampa for dinner with some more friends while I am on that side of town. I will be at the 7/11 on McCoy and trade port at 0830, I will be on a blue with silver scoops and covers gen1.

however, my attendance is no longer 100%.
wooooo hoooo. back to 100%. found a sitter. MAN, it's gonna be cold. pulling my hand out of my winter mitt to pay tolls is gonna suck. sent email to someone selling a sun pass transponder on craigslist. hopefully (s)he gets back to me in time so that i can get it set up before Sunday.

anybody have a cheap and easy way to mount a transponder? jacket or tank bag enough?

When utilizing toll roads I put mine in a bag that is mounted to the luggage rack on the back. It does not have to be directly exposed, it seems to go through denier nylon without any problems as long as you try and keep it to the top of the pack. If you where a jacket while riding you could probably put it in one of the outside pockets.

I've used my Sunpass stuck to the windshields and even the top of the tank on my FZ. Should be fine most anywhere it can receive a signal. Even if it's not picked up, a Sunpass registered license plate number will bill your account.

just got off the phone with the transponder guy. turns out that in order for him to have the device disassociated from his account the transportation authorities need some kind of notarized document. so he's not gonna bother with making it available to me and toss the transponder in the trash.

Go to PUBLIX or other location and just pick up a new one. Registration is a piece of cake...

thanks specs. i wasn't worried about getting one. both my cages have the mini one. i just wanted to try and save $ on a portable one.

HAHA. All of this cuz i'll be wrapping my hands in fleece-lined gortex mitts for the 50-degree sunshine.

Transponders now come as a tiny chip on a flexible piece of thin plastic. Less than half thickness of credit card and adhesive backed. Could stick it on top your helmet BUT, isn't there a sign for cycles to use "manned" lanes? I thought I read that on a sign at a toll both. My city has tolls to get back and forth between the two main cities just to cross the Calossahatchee River. Total money grab run by the county. See you Sunday Greg.

Pat, those "flexible piece of thin plastic transponders" are affectionately called "minis". You can only use them in cages because they use the windshields as their antenna. Because motorcycle windshields and are not typically "glass", they do not have the necessary composites to act as an antenna. Sun Pass state that the "portables" can be used by motorcycles "if properly mounted".

Cool. Sounds like you got a handle on it. This is the first year I bought them for my cars. Bikes are half price right?
You know I heard the cameras flash too late if you can breeze through at anything above 120 mph. Just saying...

for a while, we only had it on my wife's because she commutes to o-town. the number of blue moons when i ended up using the toll roads started to increase, so i said eff it and forked out the five bucks for the rfid sticker. the dollars saved is minimal compared to time gained over those queued up at the collection booths. i heard that soon booth bodies will be out of a job because all collection points will employ cameras or the ETCs. i think down in miami there are a couple of freeways like this, no choice to pay at a booth.

I always use the sun pass/epass lanes and have never had anyone tell me otherwise.
