I've been neglecting my poor old Gen 1.

We've had some hot & humid weather up here recently so I went to see if there might be any new leaks.

I think she's being passive-aggressive.

Add fork seals to the list.

A piece of a plastic milk bottle shaped like the capital letter J can also be used to remove crud from beneath the fork seal lip, pull-up the dust seal first.

Thanks for all the info.

Before replacing the seals, I tried to clean them first.

I used a Seal Mate, but now that I have it, I should have just crafted my own as Fire-medic suggested.

This is what the left side looked like.

This is the right. There was a little oil sitting on the seal and under the dust cover.

Not a lot of dirt came out with the Seal Mate.

This is under the left side cap. I guess they don't keep out the water.

There was zero pressure behind the Schrader valve.

After cleaning them up I set them to 11psi and put some grease on the rim of the cap to try and seal it better.

I did not check the oil level as we're in winter up here, so there's no rush.

There will be plenty of heat-cold cycles with the wood stove, so I'll see if there are any leaks over the next little while as there was before.
