1998...ton of mods... All performance work done by UFO in Ohio when they were around (Mike Lees apparently was guys name). "Supposed" to be 130's to the tire... Getting paperwork from previous owner. Xustk. Paint, seats, full race exhaust (UFO), Stage 7, etc. Tind of chrome doo-dads, polishing, SS lines/cables, etc. It's loud... And fast. 20201105_223221.jpg

Mike worked for UFO principal Jon Cornell, who is deceased. The widow liquidated much to Mike.

Looks clean, and well-cared-for. Making 139 RWHP I suspect it's larger than stock displacement. I've never heard of a bolt-on bike making that kind-of RWHP from jetting and a full exhaust. Power-adders will jump the output significantly: NOS, increased displacement, supercharged, turbocharged, or 'mix & match.'

I like a stock-appearing bike, I think the factory got it right. Small changes in-appearance.

Looks great. I can see blue spot front brake callipers, are there adapters to fit them or does it have the later forks? ... and is the brake master original or from a different bike?

I honestly don't know.... First Vmax and don't know them at all

I have no idea... First Vmax... Don't know which shiny doo dads are which.

I mis typed... Owner told me somewhere in the 130's he thought he remembered. He is looking for all the receipts/dyno

Yes it has the later forks, it's a 1998. The 1993+ 43 mm downtubes/sliders. An easy way to-tell: 1985-1992 forks have a balance tube and one schrader valve to fill the downtubes simultaneously, the 1993+ have individual schrader valves on-top of each downtube underneath the screw-on top-of-downtube plastic 'chrome' caps.

As far as I can see, the front brake has a stock master cyl. What looks different are the rotors, I suspect they are 320 mm. which is 12.6 in. or a bit < 12-5/8 in.

oops, my bad, no idea how I missed that - the very first word 1998 states the year - for some reason I expected it to be very early Vmas , whcih seem to ne most desirable.

Rotors are stock correct color combination for his 98 year model. The R1 calipers are a commonly swapped on brake caliper set (from 98-03). Not really an upgrade if you swap in the same type of pad into your stock vmax caliper.

It brakes very well... Has very linear feel. I will inspect brake pads to see what they are. I like EBC HH for all my heavy cruisers and Prestone DOT 4 synthetic brake fluid.
I also have SS brake lines and that helps firmness.

Hog fiddles.... 1985 was first year and they were rated at 145 hp at the engine and European version was 95hp I believe. Engine horsepower (bhp) is much different than rear wheel horsepower. On a Gen 1 Vmax a bone stock fresh 145 engine hp will dyno about 110 to the tire (loss from moving components, weight, frictional losses etc) under ideal conditions.

Yes, ‘85..... typo on my tiny phone screen, and I missed the ‘s’ on ‘always’—. Thanks for the hp clarification
