I got the electrical straighten out. Now this starting up - I went for a ride to make sure everything was ok with the rectifier and charging system. About 12 miles in the ride the bike started popping lightly at the exhaust only at idle when I come up to a stop light, and lack of top in power like it would not pull pass 100 miles in hour but slowly claiming full throttle open wide. Like is not getting in any gas. My fuel pump if pumping I can here it. The bike start up's with a back fire before it starts. Motor turns over fast.

Any help, please please man I replace a lot new parts through out this bike.

I check the diaphragms they ok. I crank the motor yesterday and today. It start right up no popping. and idle well. Sean told me to try some BG-44k...

I have tried that before (the BG-44k) that is some good stuff and will clean out your fuel system. Used it when I first got the bike (used).

I had popping more so on one side. I also had noticed popping in my AirBox. This was before and after I put on a set of used SuperTrapps. My techs ripped apart my Carbs, de-gummed them and Synched and she hasnt popped since (i have UFO's now). Actually, when I'm warming her up (it's still very cold here) if I don't have the choke set correctly, she pops in the AirBox a bit..

Usually backfiring a bit thru the carbs (airbox) means its a little bit lean. I enriched the A/F mixture screws a bit...and mine went away. It would always do it when the bike was a little cool.

Thanks for the info... I'm looking at ordering carburetor synchronize tool. What do you recommend I buy.

Morgan carbtune works well, you can do all 4 cyls at one time with it. Others work well also, but unless they have 4 inputs, you will have to move it from cyl to cyl. You can also make your own from clear tubing and trans fluid if you feel motivated.

Well there are 2 Carb synchronizers that people tend to get. The Motion Pro, which I have and is a bit cheaper

And it works...the downside to it is that the gauge medium is colored water, so it can dry out or if the carbs are way out of sync, suck the water into the carbs (it will not hurt the engine, but then you have to buy a refill for it.) Ive done this..My first sync on the bike (the PO thought the #1 carb sync screw was the idle adjustment) so started the bike, and sucked all of the fluid from the cylinder into the engine.

The other sync tool is the morgan carb tune. Ive just bought this one, and its being shipped to me.

Now it is from overseas, so it is a bit higher and you have to wait for it to be shipped to the house, and with some banks it is a hassle because you have to tell your bank to allow the purchase to go thru (otherwise they will put a hold on it, to make certain that the money isnt being swindled). Im looking forward to using the carbtune...I personally think its a better tool, but wont be able to tell that until I use it.

I'm wanting to say the manual says to sync your carbs every 8000 miles, and you can tell a difference with drivability after you do sync them.

Hope this helps.

I've been using the CarbTune once each Spring for about 10 years now and I'm very happy with it.

Synchronizing can make a huge difference, especially once you've worked on the carbs or had them off the bike.

I have this sync tool from Amazon and really like it. 4 gauges with adjustable restrictors at the base of each (just turn the wheel on the stem of each gauge to dampen the fluctuations in vacuum), and numerous adapters to let you use it on other types of carbs. The guages are on a rack with a short strap that lets you hang it over the speedometer of the max for easy viewing while performing the sync. Comes in a nice blow-molded case, too.

Morgan CarbTune is the best in my opinion. I used the mercury type for almost 40 years and there is no comparison. Have sucked mercury thru an engine on many occaions. Nice mist out of the exhaust. Probably explains my memory problems. :ummm:

Try syncing the 6 carbs on a CBX if you want some fun.. :biglaugh:

Thanks brother vmax rider's,

I call Morgan Carbtune 2 times and lift a massage they have not responded back yet.

The 1 on amazon looks cool, is there any info on how to use it.
I could not find a manual on the net when I was searching.

I have emailed them before...and they have replied back in 2 hours. You probably wont hear back from them today. They are in England which is roughly 6 hrs ahead of us.....so it 6:06 pm there (for me is 12:06).

Here is their email [email protected]

Hope this helps.

Do a search on here for "carb sync" and read up on it... basically, pull the shiny covers over the intakes, remove the rubber caps from the intake vacuum ports, and hook up the rubber hoses to the gauges - you don't even need any of the included adapters for the VMax.

Start the bike, slowly tighten the dampening valves on each gauge so you don't have wild needle fluctuations, then adjust the sync screws on the carbs until you see the same vacuum on all four. (There are good writeups in the carb section that show pictures of the screw locations and provide handy tips, like blipping the throttle after each adjustment.)

Shut it off, remove the gauges, replace the rubber caps and shiny covers, and go for a ride!

Thanks guy's I may try to get the 1's on amazon.com it's seam's people are happy with them. Only thing no info on how to use them.

Also the local shop to syc the carbs was $150.00 is this a good price?
