Steve why was the ABS light on in the first place ? :ummm:

Wheel sensor. I found software today that works with the Elm 327 I already have. It's not cheap. $177 for just a limited set of vehicles. Understanding how something works is the 1st key to fixing it. Next time I bleed a clutch on a Vmax I'll not complain.

Did you buy a new wheel sensor or are you saying the software fixed it ?

No, the truck needs a hub assembly anyway, and my friend just wanted his transportation back for now. So, the latest software lets you clear the code, then cycle the pump valving. Most cheap software only reads the code then resets the light. As soon as you drive it the code kicks back in. I disabled the ABS on my 2004 Silverado. And I liked it better. But bells and whistles go off every time you start it up.
