Anyone know how to space the rear stock wheel. I put a 170 80 15 metzler on and it hits every half turn so i need to move the rim to the right. I know other have done this and i would like to see how and pics would be great. Thanks..............MIKE

Mike the Washer in question is the One indicated by the Arrow in the attached picture.
To do the Swap you have to remove it and put inside the Pumpkin (Final Drive) to shift the Wheel to the right a few mm.
You will have to stick in there with grease (or figure out some other way) to make it stay in place while re-installing the wheel.

Instead of fixing it with grease why not just get an axle from the left to the right to center the washer untill you fit the axle from right to left and push the holding axle out?

Thanks mabdcmb Mike I just got done with the washer swap and it worked great. Vmaxoutlaw said to use a screwdriver on the left side to hold the washer in place and it worked great. only bad thing is its raining and i wanted to smoke a metzler and i here its bad for your health to smoke metzlers in the rain.

Thanks for looking out for me dannymax. But its seated and the rim has no runout but the tire seems to have a high spot in the sidewall.

Glad to hear it, not a problem you would expect with a Metz tho....I had a hell of a time with a Shinko once....never did get it straight. Was forced to just burn it off and go to a better tire! :rofl_200:

Just thought Mike....it's possible that tire is under warranty?

I just ordered shinko tour master 230 hope I don't have a problem . unless wife finds out first !! That would be a problem..

I just put on a Shinko 170/80...fit like a glove. My old dunlop seemed to be closer to the driveshaft housing because of the raised white letters than the Shinko does.

Are you guys saying that you can put a radial on a stock rim??
If so, oversize it as well??

Dont mix radial with bais just so you know. I here that bmw has come out with a new bike that has a 170 80 15 radial on the rear. not sure if you can get it yet and i dident see it advertised i was told about it.

Isn't it a scooter? If so, may not be rated high enough for the Max. :confused2:

m-cman you do have a point. like i said i was told about the tire i dont know what type of bmw. We should always look at speed rating when it come to motorcycle and high speeds. Thats why i like the shinko the best. It coast almost half the price of a metzler and it will out perform it. It has a speed rating of 149mph this i like alot. when it comes to drag racing its the best 170 80 15 you can use. I dident have to do the washer swap on a shinko. But i do have to say now that i have done the washer swap so i can have a metzler on the back it is alot of fun braking the back tire lose in rolling burnouts. I have ufo 4 into 2 slashcuts and a stage 7 and i have a hard time brake torq's with a shinko. I trust the shinko hitting it hard in sharp turns i dont think i will have that kind of trust with a metzler. So i will run both this year but im sure the shinko will be my safe choice.

i'd say that defeats the whole purpose as you still have a lot of rotating rubber vs metal.

and as far as the washer i just keep a screwdriver in there holding the washer in place until the axle comes through.

and if it just barely scrapes, i'd say thats not all that uncommon for tires to be that out of runout. but if you can turn it part way and it stops dead elsewhere, yea i wouldn't keep that up.
