When I say throw away bike, and I hope that offends no one, I would generally consider it to be something that "doesn't matter" and won't be an important bike years after it was built because...fill in the blank...
The Gen 2 may be faster but I can't get past the horrible look of the thingsIf you think they look alike (other than the deliberate design cues) then you need help son. Here's a handy link; http://www.specsavers.com.au/

The Gen 2 doens't float my boat because of the price, drop it down to $12,000 new and I am sure you would see a TON of them on the road. I might even buy one as a second bike to play with. But at $12,000 used for a 2009 model, sorry I just can't do it. But maybe someday..

Todd here is the the thing.. Myself I could have got ANY bike I wanted last year Had a lil over $20 grand cash and have no payments to buy me a bike that I wanted I looked at many styles of bikes.. even checked out the M109 and the victorys hammer, Jackpot, Cross country even looked at some harley street glides my girl rides alot with me .. I went everywhere I could to try to see gen2 vmax none no where then luck has it the yamaha Demo truck should up close by and I got to actually ride the gen2 I knew it was what I wanted.. But just before that I listed a Gen2 Vmax here on the site at a great deal... low mileage 2009 for $9,500 and the lucky guy on here got it he lived very close to the seller( by the way you still owe me some Brownies:rofl_200
if you really wanted a vmax you can find one if you look hard enough and wait a bit
I really wanted one but I just wanted to seat on one at least before I drove hours to get one... I was lucky enough to test ride one and BAM 2 weeks later I was a Proud Owner of my 2010 thanks to the guys on the Starvmax site for the fast help finding me one:clapping:
My ZX14 2008 cost $4500 total ( $4300 cash and $200 trade on gun work ). Again half the price of the 2009 Vmax used.
Todd
Right, I understand that. But what I was referencing to is that a new one cost close to $20,000, a new Busa/ZX14 ( I am only using these two as reference because I own one ) costs $11,000 new. Thats almost double. If I can pocket $9,000 and ride a bike I enjoy the looks, comfort and power/speed out of it, then thats what I would do and did. With that $9000 saving, you can ride and go one some pretty bad ass trips. And remember, I don't see these bikes ( Busa and ZX14 ) around me at all. I have seen more Gen 2 Vmax's than I have seen ZX14's. In fact I haven't seen a single ZX14 out by me yet lol. But anyways my point is that we all love bikes one way or another. The Gen 2 Vmax is just too costly and that is one area they lost out on a big part of the market.
$9500 for a 2009 Vmax is awesome. Thats a great price, if I wanted a used bike at that price I would get one and I may still. But for another $1500 I am riding on a new ZX14 or Busa, zero miles, newest generation etc.

Thats all my point is, that the Gen 2 is an awesome bike, but just costly.
Like they always say, you pay to play! unk:

That is a helluva deal. People 'round here try to sell their '01-03 Litre bikes for that price.
That is a great price for a bike with it's capabilities.........but it also says that they do not hold their value.
Just throwing this out there: MSRP on a 2014 ZX14 is over $15K closing the gap on the max.
Id be happy with either of em. Or a busa... I don't discriminate. I still prefer the look of a gen1. It looks like a old school hot rod. These new bikes don't. But, I could deal with it once I cracked the throttle.

Damn I am not sure where I saw my price, but $15,299 for a 2014 ZX14.
$17,999 for a Gen 2 Vmax for a 2013 model, I couldn't find a 2014 price, but I didnt look that hard.
ZX14's don't hold their value like a Busa does. Thats one reason I looked at the ZX14, more bike for the money.
I know I got a good deal on mine and I am happy with it.
I found a 2010 M109R I am going to make an offer on and see what happens....
Todd
With a lot of diligence and a little luck you can find some pretty good deals on Gen 2 Vmaxs- I just picked mine up (2010 with 3900 miles) for $11,500 and it's showroom.... :biglaugh: Found it on Cycletrader about 2 hrs after he listed it, and jumped on it!

First of all im not your SON.. Second you own a vt1100 and your going to talk **** about the Gen2 Vmax looking Horrible and only have( delibrate design cues) yeah like the scoops, the seat, gas tank under seat, big V4 motor,Cam covers in the place of the carb covers, clutch, forward drive, stator and waterpump that all can be changed to clear see thru covers like the gen1, gauges on the faux tank cover, the side covers, dual exhaust, swing arm pivot covers, I can go on about it but maybe your the one that needs to go back to the web site www.specsavers.com.au and get yourself some thicker glasses since you was the one that knew Addy of the site.
You dont own one maybe you cant afford one, maybe its to much for you to handle I dont know and really DONT care!
but anytime you want to bring that Horrible looking Big Pig VT1100 up to Richmond Va I will show you Why I ride a Gen2 Vmax .
This is A frigging VMAX site If its only for Gen1 owners then someone should say so and I will only comment on my Gen1 and will Keep my comments on the Gen2 Vmax on the Starvmax site and by the way the guys there that own both do not put down the gen1 all the time but yet say they still love the gen1.
I have no desire to get in the middle of your guys "debate".My "LITTLE VT 1100" shoves out 150 HP at the rear wheel and runs with the biggest boys out there.
Chris.
