I am looking at these two, any input from you guys?

I am leaning towards the S3 because of the better camera options, but I am coming from the original Incredible and figured it might just be easier to transition over to the new one. But I am just leery of the video camera function on it as mine kinda sucks.

Also the Galaxy has 2 gig ram and a 1.5 dual core processor, vs 1 gig and 1.2 dual core.

I don't use my phone as a mini computer really. I just pretty much use it for on the fly pictures and video and GPS for the most part.

Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks
Todd

i upgraded to the s3 from an incredible a few months ago....i love it.....the camera takes fabulous pix and the larger screen is a nice improvement.

IMO, S3 hands down. The front and rear facing camera would be enough for me to make the decision because I love being able to video chat, but it having a graphics accelerator, HD playback, an accelerometer, a gyroscope, a larger screen dimension with more resolution, 4G-capability, a larger battery capacity, a larger in-circuit memory storage, and larger expansion storage accommodations; make choosing the S3 that much easier in my eyes. I've been running with the S2 since January and absolutely love it. It is the first 'droid that I haven't wanted to root or exchange after a couple months. So if the S3 is any improvement over its older brother, it can only kick ass.

Samsung without any doubt.
Got a Galaxy S2 (4G HSDPA+ only) a year ago, that thing is already a blast !!
I play games, browse, access ofc networks, remote servers, etc...
Performance wise the S2 is already more than enough for me.

S3 is the big brother and is providing support for LTE networks (4G-42mbps), so it's a good investment.
I might replace my S2 with an S3 depending how the LTE networks here are going.

You just need to be sure that the phone will support the LTE network frequencies of your provider if you buy it unlocked. If it comes from the provider, no issue then :p

I have an s3. It is awesome. Good screen, nice and fast, and the GPS i have ever used on a phone.

I have, the microphone has major problems. My mother got one recently, upgraded from an ancient blackberry. Her voice cuts out regularly....every minute or two, it fades out for anywhere from 5-10 seconds, then fades back in, with her sounding like she's underwater. Eventually it clears up, but then happens all over again. Even got one of the tech support people at verizon to hear this and they refuse to do anything about it. The firmware is fully updated. Tried the suggestion to do a factory restore, which did not fix the issue. Plus I have two friends with this phone, and both have this exact same problem....

Samsung was too busy cramming so much unnecessary bullshit into it they forgot someone might want to use the phone to actually talk to someone. Plus the battery life blows, barely use it and it's dead every night, though I guess that's par for the course these days.

Google "S3 microphone problems", there's cases of it everywhere.

The problem is there are cases with all phones really. Which makes it a pain in the butt to figure out which one you want.

I liked the 2 gb ram and 1.5 dual core processor on the S3. Better then 1.2 and 1 gb on the INcredible LTE. The don't offer the one series or EVO from Verizon. Or else I would get the One X I think. I ve read nothing but good things about it.

But the S3 they offer also. My wife has a Stellar I think it is, and it seems really nice and if its a freebie type phone ( I think she paid $50 for it with upgrade ) vs S3 and $200 with contract , but I want the latest and greatest if I have to pay. I just don't want to pay $200 when I could pay $100 ( Incredible might be $150 ) if they are the same.

The bigger screen is nice , but also , probably not as necessary. I hear its bad in direct sunlight ( S3 ).

So I guess really either one is a huge improvement over my original Incredible. So I would probably be happy with either one. The S3 seems like it has nice features though. My thought was having the original Incredible, the new Incredible would be an easy transition.

Todd, transition will be easy on any android. At the end, they use similar or identical version of the system.

I agree with you, no need to spend big money for a phone unless there is a real purpose.

Most of the people wouldn't feel the difference between an S2 and S3 except for the screen size :)

To me a cell phone that works poorly as an actual phone is a crippling fault. Some hiccups in the OS or extra features are pretty much expected with the complexity, and these usually get hammered out with updates....but when the most basic function is broken that's a deal breaker to me.

It's like buying a brand new top of the line motorcycle, but the engine cuts out every few minutes. Kind of makes everything else pointless.

The droid razr "max" is also really popular around here. Plus some people get 2-3 days of battery life from it and I've seen a few videos off one and they're surprisingly good quality. And, the phone part actually works.

me and my gf both have galaxy s3"s.....the phone works just fine on both of em. my droid incredible worked flawlessly untill about 3 months ago then went kablooie and started rebooting all the time. every model has a few dudz.
