Use the search function to find info on subjects that are of interest to you.

The shop manual:
https://ia800204.us.archive.org/14/...ice-manual/yamahavmaxvmx12-service-manual.pdf

Your year has most of the 'major' yearly upgrades to the starter, the ignition, the oil filter, the shift drum star segment, the front forks and the downtubes/sliders, the front calipers and the rotors.

Read the manual front to back to get familiar w/it. You don't need to memorize it. Being familiar w/it, you will be able to easily find the info fo the system you're trouble-shooting. The first 64 pp, are annual updates about running changes from year to year. The Appendix at the end has much of value like sizes and locations of fasteners, cable and hose routing, VBoost rpm info, and much more.

Another thread to be of use, from member RaWarrior:

What oil to use? What tires should I buy? All that and more.
