lucky day today

well i must tell you guys today was a lucky day for me.I left work hopped on my vmax and took the off ramp on to the trans canada highway that passes through our city and some guy changed lanes and did not see me in his blind spot and hit me sending me flying off my bike at 50 km/hr and sliding and tumbling down the road when i came to a stop i was so busy looking to see if any cars were coming to run me over that i didn't feel any pain. 1 i'm glad i had a full face helmet, 2 i had a protective jacket with all the paddding which is torn up now from the pavement, 3 i had the bars on the bike that protected the engine cause the bike slid on it and the exhaust limiting damage to just minor cosmetic. as for me a bruise on my hip and a lesson to be more aware of whats happrning around me. i"m considering getting some protective pants now also as my pant got a littl torn up.

Oh man, thank god your alright. That is one of my biggest scares.
Gotta watch the cars around you. Keep big gaps and stay outa bind spots.
As one of my friends says, "we stays leathered up".
Some bad *** SIDI boots are in my everyday riding future.
Glad this isnt keeping you down from getting back on your trusty stead. :cheers:

People laugh at us for wearing full face buckets and protective gear I say whatever least I will live if anything happens. Leather, full face bucket, boots, gloves make for good riding

Glad to hear that you are OK! The gear did it's job sounds like, the cosmetic damage can be fixed.
If the bars you spoke of are the factory case savers check the frame over carefully. Since they mount so solidly they tend to tweak the frame with a really hard hit.

Glad to hear that you made it through with only minor injuries and minor bike damage. Bikes can be fixed, people are a lot harder to patch up! I always wear all the gear, all the time! Even if I am wearing jeans they are "Draggin' jeans" so I have some protection from road rash. The "Biker image" doesn't look so hot missing a ton of skin and with broken bones!

Sketchy, that's some funny ****! Easy for you "northern guys to say ATGATT but in south Florida (93/90% humidity, it's a miracle we can get anyone to wear anything but sunglasses and tanning oil ! Even textiles are hot. I suffer and sweat because I dread the consequences. FYI. Try to get that bike totalled out and buy the salvage if the frame has a hint of damage. Cut up the frame and part it out. It will take longer to settle with Insurance Co but worth it. Glad to hear you are relatively unscathed. Oh all your protective gear should be replaced by Ins too. Good time to upgrade!

Years ago that kinda happened to me and I was lucky enough to stay up but the guy had a huge foot dent in his door.he didn't stop either, oh well...it's his dent............lol

Have you looked into the hemp jackets? WAY stronger than cotton and MUCH lighter as well...
