I see it as causing hard-feelings between and among members. A Libertarian might say, "let everyone have access to whatever mind-altering substances they want, if you don't you're stifling freedom of choice." I don't want people shooting up in my neighborhood, smoking methamphetamine, and exhibiting whatever socially-oppressive, drug-influenced behavior they do because of their consumption.

Here, I don't want someone saying, "that prick, he's for Trump, I need parts but I'm damned if I give that guy my money!" or "OMG, he's for AOC, I want the used pick-up coil he's selling, but he can go lick Hillary's cankles before I give him my money!"

I assume you understand my reasoning.

Oh I know exactly what you mean and I know there are people that think like that, but I trust the people who are worth doing business with to understand that it’s the Burnout Pit and it’s main purpose is to let people say and read (or choose not to read) things other people may not like.

People posting in heated debates should (and probably do) understand that the person on the other end may no longer want to sell to them, and imo if they want to argue let them have at it because as adults they can choose to have a heated debate/argument amongst themselves (one which anyone can choose to no longer take part in by simply ignoring the thread/not responding) and live with the consequences.


Most importantly, I see no reason that you or I should be worried about any sort of recourse for letting other people have it out with each other.

I’ve been pretty entertained by the arguments but I see your point, FM. Let’s all just agree to disagree when needed.
I like to think in my hopeful optimism that even though we all can have disagreements and even harsh words we still have the mindset to help our neighbors and especially our Vmax brothers no matter political view. But I could be wrong, the divide is pretty deep and wide these days.

Your side did it in Texas years ago, again in Wisconsin (legislators actually LEFT the state!) and again with this question of the CRISIS on the border. The opinion of those on your side; "open the government and then we WON'T talk about the border crisis." When asked whether the democrats were holding discussions over a compromise with Trump her answer was (let me see if I can remember her exact wording...) Oh yeah, I remember... "NO!"

Fire-medic, I am, in fact, a libertarian but your illustration is classic "reducio ad absurdum." There is an OCEAN of difference between your example and the free discussion of a contentious subject.
Libertarians understand that "..." A person's right to swing his arm ENDS at the tip of the other guy's nose." Drug addicts can do whatever they want with their own bodies. When they steal to support that life choice, they go to jail. Neither do I believe individuals have the right to **** in the street like they do in San Francisco. Needles are dangerous to others in the society and leaving them lying around (I hope) is against the law. Governments have a sworn obligation to protect the larger society and enforce bans on behavior that is deleterious to that society.

The thing is though that the crime rate attributed to the undocumented is significantly lower than the rest of the US population. We'd be safer if they made up more of the population.
