So my igition burnt out (the part you actually put the key into) so I got another one from a kind forum member...

And now it burnt out too! Its only been like a month:bang head:

When I took a look inside it the contacts are actually melted,inside the "barrel" AND in the connector that clips into the wiring harness.

So the question is what would cause too much power to go to the ignition and make it melt???:ummm:

I think this is the final issue in my line of electrical drama so lets hendle this thing gents!
 
I haven't really kept up with all of your posts but you seem to have some some serious electrical problems.
In saying that probably doesn't appear to address your specific problem but I suspect you have something going on deeper into your electrics which seem to be causing you so much grief lately.
 
You probably have something else for instance the fusebox is melting from heat as in a bad connection.So check your fusebox,the connections near the battery and if you remove the tape from the main harness about 4" ...do the "solder the crimp fix" and if all else fails start the bike up and using your finger test for hot spots.When you touch something and it feels hot then you may have found your trouble.Cheers Kevman.
 
Ive got an R6 regulator,Im running somthing to the effect of 14 volts.The crimp fix has already been done too.

I think testing for hot spots is a good idea,couldnt hurt. Nothing else seems to be melting but the ignition...However both ignitions kinda "clicked" when I turned them on before frying so maybe I just didnt have the key in enough and forced it so it shorted.
Im in the dark on this one,but at least now ive gotten it all fixed with this one exception.

Obviously you are going to have to replace it. When you do make absolutely sure everything is on very tight. Start the bike and put your multimeter to read current, if it goes that high, and see what the current is through that part of the circuit.
 
Well I dove in and found the issue and now just need to find the specific spot where it has occured. The headlight!

I have my lights wired to the highbeam so when I turn my lights on its shorting some place but no issue when the lights off. So tomorrow I hunt for bare wires!
