WARNING!!!!

Watch out for this one! I was just surfing around - NOWHERE NASTY - and my screen turns to this real official looking FBI SYSTEM BLOCKED!! notification.

It told me I was doing Kiddy Porn, being a terrorist, and downloading copyrighted material! All at once!!!!

It wanted $300.00 to buy a code number to unblock my machine. If I didn't want to pay the fine online, I could get a gift card at Walmart, Rite Aid, Walgreens, and a few other stores and submit the code on the card as payment.

Smell like a rat?

Obviously, it's a scam, but it had good hold of my machine - booted right into the notice, and there was a disgusting picture of a young girl being assulted on the page. ******' pigs...

It was easy to get out with Malwarebytes, but there is a entry in the startup folder that starts it running on bootup. You NEED to look this fricken thing up and write down instructions how to get it out, unless you have another computer available to look it up. Good thing I have a tablet and got the info

Google Moneypak or Moneypak virus or Moneypak Ransomware.

You really want to at least read about this...... 16 years goofing with PC's and this is the FIRST time I got infected.

i saw that one about a month ago. pretty scary lookin ....:rofl_200:

I got hit with that several months ago, what a PITA!

Malwarebytes worked great to get rid of it. I booted in the "safe" mode with Networking and was able to get out on the Net to download it, then run it.

Running as a normal user in Vista+ and setting up an admin account to prompt on things needing admin rights.

I run as a normal user, setup the admin as Are you Sure? with a password of yes or no password. It forces all the things needing admin to prompt, where just UAC alone lets some of it slide.

It doesn't solve the current infection, but works wonders in preventing future ones. Especially from getting so deep as needing to drop into safe mode or install rootkits.

Buy the Google Chrome computer for all your surfin and emails, works off the cloud and no Hard-drive, virus free.
