Not the same as splitting, but I'll ride the breakdown lane for miles to get by traffic. Many cagers are offended by this and will swerve, block, yell. It's safer than being between two cars, but still hazardous. I wouldn't get around in summer if I didn't do it.

I was splitting on my way to work when I stopped at a local burger joint. Unbeknownst to me, a frantic soccer mom was chasing me down. I walk in, told the pretty girl behind the counter that I'd like the usual, grabbed my cup, and filled it with the perfect mixture of Coke and ice.

Just as I sat down, a middle aged woman barged in, her finger pointing at me, guttural rasp saying, "You!!!" I calmly looked at her and sipped on the frothy Coke~a~Cola. "You *******!!" she asserted. "What the **** is your problem?" I lifted my leg, looked at my pants and boots and said, "I'm not matching today again, am I?" and looked at her. She was certainly not amused. "You're gonna get yourself KILLED!!" she screamed. "What is your family going to think about that, you selfish man?" Quite amused, I just looked at her. She continued, "You ****ing *******. People care about you. You shouldn't ride like that. You *******!!!!" I took a sip of Coke and just looked at her. She obviously wanted a reaction so after a few awkward seconds I gave her the biggest standing ovation she probably ever received. She stood there motionless, her face got red, and then she broke down and started crying. I sat back down, sipped my Coke nonchalantly and waited for her to make her exit. But sh

t. She then started muttering stuff in between sobs. "He died" *sob* "My son died riding like you." *sob* "You're going to devastate the people around you when you die like he did" *sob* She then gathered herself and left. The manager walked up with my tray of food and asked, "What the **** was her problem?" I just shrugged my shoulders.

After that moment, my life was changed forever. I was accidentally served a burger with avocado on it and dayam, that **** is good!!! So I've ordered avocado on my burgers ever since.

just curious is lane splitting legal in Florida I do it sometimes but people look angry when I pass them

Many people are jealous by nature and hate to see someone doing better than themselves.Driving included. I think that's the motivation for the rage of cagers as we pass them lane splitting or breakdown lane passing. I'd be happy to get my truck or car out of the way to let bikes get by. If traffic is stopped especially. What's the harm? The state of New Hampshire is one of the few I find motorcycle friendly. Cagers pull over for me all the time. It's great riding there. There are roads in Massachusetts that allow breakdown lane use at certain hours. That is common sense to allow it.

+1 --- About 1/2 of the cagers in Los Angeles will move for bikers and I have never seen one move in the way of the biker-------except one 80 year old lady in Beverly Hills I remember opened the door of her pink 1965 Ford Mustang to spit.:confused2:

Having moved from Lancaster, Ca to Winchester, Ky I miss lane splitting, especially when I'm stuck behind several stopped cars and see a car at the very front, stopped a car length behind the solid white line at a traffic light. What's worse is when traffic barely moves, it's hot, and the light changes again....:icon_rolleyes:

Teach them how to do it in KY.
