Doing some casting dimension comparisons and would like samples from as many bikes as possible.

Below is a pic of what I'm looking for, either sae or metric is fine let me know which head or heads the measurement came from and the year of the bike.

Thanks in advance! :worthy:

Just from edge-to-edge of the polished sections, or from how far back? The heads have a slight outward taper as you close to the inner sections.

Yes Miles, from front corner to front corner on the polished section....Thanks

Do you still have my measurements, if not I can get them later when I get home from work.

Thought I did Larry but can't locate them....if you could that'd be great. Thanks

I can send some from an 85, 95 and a 2004 in about an hour, if my el cheapo harbor freight caliper meter goes out that far........

I'll try to remember to measure em when I get home. Where did I leave those calipers?

RR 133.1 MM LR 133.7

Thanks Joe & Miles....I'm keeping a running tab of the results on post #7.

So far it looks like the outside dimensions of the head castings might vary as much as .035" - .040"......interesting! :hmmm:

Front left, Rear left, front right, rear right.....1996

Front left, Rear left, front right, rear right.....1996

However, with due respect to Mr. Bolas, you have to note where the caliper edges are touching - a good deal back from the edge of the castings, therefore a larger measurement than requested (see post # 2)
Maybe time to 'fess up, Dan, and let us know what's rolling around in that fertile mind of yours:ummm:
You no doubt will get lots of suggestions, to make the design process as simple as possible.
Cheers!

Left front: 5.293"
Left rear: 5.2978"
Right front: 5.298"
Right rear: 5.300"

Taken on a 98 with 15,241 miles, measured on center rib.

From my 07,

RF = 133.61
LF = 133.44
RR = 133.85
LR = 133.11

Each fin position and dimension as seated on the bike.

Chris.
