I don't want any more speeding tickets and not have to worry as much when riding. Was looking at a passport 9500 ix or that Adaptive TPX motorcycle radar. Want to have one to switch from my car to bike. Was planning on buying a cigarette lighter to be able to hook it up to the battery for GPS and or radar detector. Any help on this MOd would really help a brother out!!!! Thank you!

Easternbeaver.com has several styles of cigarette lighter style outlets. I have one on my bike to run my GPS and have it mounted on the back of the airbox/ above the radiator overflow bottle. It's a tight fit but I figured it would be dry there and since my gps is WP I don't need to take it off if it rains.
I used the Automotive Socket Cable Mount Complete Kit, with the optional clip and optional cap.

I'd get a V1. best investment i've ever made. never tried mounting it to a bike but it's the only detector i will use in my cars. absolutely amazing.

Does the V1 have a headphone outlet? The passports do. Since i can't see it very well while riding. I would like an Audio alert to help. Was planning on using some headphones.

The V1 is a old style bulky radar, but the technology is decent.

I personally like my passport 9500ix and I use the cig lighter in the car and its a hard wire kit to the bike. I mount mine on my tank bag and it works just fine. I have an ipod and the radar that share the y connector to my earbuds.

Now if you really want to be all leading edge, passport just released the new passport IQ system that is totally awesome. GPS navigation plus built in radar with speed cam, radar traps and GPS full capabilities. Cant go wrong with this unit:

V1 is a bit big, but it's got front and rear antennas, total radar count and one helluva range. Mine is about 10 years old and I have not yet sent it back for updates. It's that good. I'm sure the Cinncinati Microwave (Passport/Escort) products are great too. V1 is made by a former Cinncinati engineer.

Something with GPS and databases and other capabilities is gonna be impressive. I've never looked into that stuff yet. But as a basic radar/laser detector the V1 is killer. It's speaker is pretty loud but I don't recall it having an earphone jack.

I quit driving way fast when gas went to $5/gall...now I'm more mellow in my old age, lol...but prob should look into the GPS stuff

I ONLY HAD IT ON ONE OF MY BIKES AND MY EXPERIENCE WITH A RADAR DETECTOR IS , THAT IF YOUR " CRANKING '' AT A GOOD CLIP , BUY THE TIME IT GOES OFF , HE'S GOT YA' ON RADAR , ESPECIALLY WITH " INSTANT ON " , BUT HE DOESN'T HAVE YOUR PLATE , SO THE CHASE IS ON ! ... :biglaugh:

Thats about the truth of it. any traffic cop worth his salt would use instant on.

The thing will clock, and recheck a multitide of times before you even get a chance to react to the beep.

When I was running traffic I'd occationally blip the radars in the front and in the back of my car. it was funny to see how many brake lights would light up or front ends dip.

I was planning on putting the valentine v1 on my tank bag... I have a plastic see through pocket on the top of my tank bag. I've been looking a ww.cyclegadgets.com at their RAM handlebar mount. Would that be my best bet? I don't really wana spend another 55 bucks.
