Yes a vacuum leak will show up during a sync.And you would hear the idle rise when you spray on it.
Also the link was the order in which you seek out the problem.
If it was a broken valve you would hear it.
I would say it is an a/f mixture screw.Did you take it out and make sure there is an o-ring, metal washer and spring? I doubt danny would miss that though.

I'll double check to be certain, but (you're exactly right) doubt Danny would miss that. If the valve wasn't broken, but just burned or stuck? Just going out on a limb, here.
