I and another vmaxer havent had good luck with K&N. They screw up orders, they ordered me wrong stuff another friends order was doubled. The couple times ive talked to their guys, they dont seem to be with it. I just talked to some ******** their a few weeks ago, Must have been a crackhead or something, he did not listen, he was in such a rush and I had to repeat myself a couple times. I found this site to have really good prices, way better than K&N and Umotors
http://metricpartsdirect.com/

I looked at the prices and current University prices are a bit better....at least for the parts I just ordered.

Just ordered some rotors for an FJR at http://www.metricpartsdirect.com/default.asp for 82.00 each. No on else could come close. Also as I was talking to the guy I pulled up the microfiche for the part number, I noticed they raised the price to 89.?? each from two weeks ago when I looked. I mentioned it to him, he gave me the old price. This is the second time I ve dealt with them they are very friendly. Also I was looking at 150.00 part for a custom application and I wasnt sure if it was going to work. I asked I f I could return the item. He said there would be a restocking fee which is typically 30%, set by yamaha,he said they would only charge me 20%.

Damn, that is good. How about aftermarket? Do they offer discounts for EBC pads, etc?

This is their standard pricing. Im not sure about their other parts. But they do sell Tucker Rocky and Parts Unlimited stuff, I havent compared the aftermarket prices.
I did just call Umotors, since you said your parts were cheaper there. Umotors price for the FJR rotors were 82.??, so they are still a little cheaper.
I just never called U motors, I figured since they went to 30% over cost that they would be over 120.00. I based this on another yammy dealer who claims their stuff is 20% over cost and the rotors their were 120.00. So I assumed umotors would be more. The site who claims 20% over cost must be lying then.
Oh well, I will make sure I call umotors to compare from now on. I have bought a lot of stuff from them and they have always been great. Im just a little upset they fired Gary, so I was in a little protest also.

I called Mark this morning to order a slave cylinder & he told me Yamaha won't let him order parts for 2 weeks because of accounting issues. :ummm: Oh well, I'll try them again in the future, but I couldn't wait that long - went to my local stealer & paid full pop. $75.89 + shipping & tax.

I talked to Nmotion today and they said they really only offer discounts to local riders or groups. I told him about Sean Morley and this forum and he said he could offer 10% off. So, University is still better...barely.

OK guys, got some new info on the discount situation. They will let us do a VMOA discount but want to do it on a one time staggered system. Here's what they are offering. As sales are process the discount level will increase. Starting from Monday it will run like this:

0-$2500 = 10% off of retail
$2501 - $5000 = ??% off retail (Sorry can't remember)
$5000 - $10000 = ?? (sorry can't remember)
$10,001 and up will be 25% above dealer cost.

Keep in mind this is NOT a single order. This is a cumulative amount so as we buy more and more stuff as a group (and call it VMOA - they will not check member numbers), the discount will get greater and not go back to the start.

This may not be the greatest thing out there but once we get the cumulative total up the discount will be very close to what we were used to.

Our contact there is Austin (316-683-3900) though any of the parts guys can help you. I did discuss that as they start seeing us use them more that they will need to start stocking more of the common stuff people need (gaskets - ect...).

You can also ask me and i'll try to get you as much info as I can. Jim R, if you have anyone official from the VMOA want to contact them about it please feel free to do so. This is the first time it has been officially run past the NMotion management so they are aware of what is going on.

that sounds great Sean. What is the actual name of the dealership? Do they carry other jap manufacturers?

That is not a good deal for most of us. Most individual orders would be less than $2500 and 10% off can be beat almost anywhere. Even my local dealer will do that. K&N is a lot better at 25% over cost. NMotion is supposedly 15 to 18% over cost according to the VMOA Vendor list. If the VMOA Vendor list is correct, there are several vendors with better discounts. If it is not correct, it should be updated!!!

I agree it should be updated! And I also think you should read it again. Very few would ever order that much in parts. That's why it's an accumulation between everyone and only one time. So, once we establish that level once (as a group) we won't have to start from 0 again.

Sean, this would all be academic if you'd drop a quick $10k on one order. We'd all really appreciate it. :biglaugh:

LOL, yea right. I do spend about that over the coarse of the year but they are keeping me seperate from the main group for my discount (which is a tiny bit better but not much).
