Conservative North Carolina legislature trying to pass a law to make Tesla not to be sold there. Under the guise of unfair competition North Carolina car dealerships want the state to pass a law against competition. Where is the conservative agenda of "free Market" now?
David from Mexico

So one guy introduces a bill and you claim the whole state is conservative, and thus to blame? Can you read English?
Besides I would expect you to love this leftist crap. Except the guy is republican.

Ooooooo, Bbbbaaaaaaad.......

Here is the link for the cars

You know...I dont think your average person could afford them STARTING at 62,400 and 72400....and the model S performance is 87400.

Dude...all of those cars are more than my first house 15 years ago. Has anyone thought where this electricity comes from? The cars are 0 emissions...but unless the electricity comes from hydro...the power plant that generates the electricity..ISNT 0 emissions...your looking at fossil fuels being burned to generate the electricity for these cars.

Don't worry Dave, those cars aren't made in your beloved Mexico.
And they cost more than the average Mexican Family makes in 6 years:

Guys don't worry, no one here actually respects forestdaledave's opinion.
He has stated that Northern Mexico is the Best (and safest) place to live, despite proof and statistics that show that it has one of the highest Murder rates per capita in the world.
The US government actually issued travel warnings about the town he lives in (Rosarito Beach, Baja Mexico) and he wrote a book saying that it is the Ideal retirement city (I guess that may be true if you don't mind your neighbors being murdered in the streets and dealing with a known corrupt police force).
So do your own research and consider the source before you accept anything this guy says as fact.

In my city, many people now have solar power. Most people who have solar, are getting a cheque every month instead of a bill, because they put power into the grid.

I don't have solar electricity, only hot water, but it is not unreasonable now to have free power, free "fuel" for the daily commute, and free hot water.

It's a grand idea, which needs introduction to the market, so all the rich people (not me) can iron out the bugs for us. One day I will be able to make my own electric car. :punk:

Me...I'm a big fan of hydrogen...it is created from water, and after its burned...it goes back to water. But where would the electricity come from thats used for electrolosis? To split the hydrogen and oxygen molecules.

Solar at this point in time, isnt completely feasable...atleast not in the states. You cant have enough solor panels on your house to be 100% self sufficient.
I'm not a big fan of the batteries in the cars. lithium batteries are actually a hazardous substance. When you try to send packages thru the post office, you get asked if your sending electronics, and if they contain lithium batteries
Just my thoughts.

That may be all true but Consumer Reports gave them a big thumbs up. But what are your thoughts about what N. Carolina is doing.

Why isn't solar feasible? Driving into Palm Springs on my Vmax, hundreds of windmills, generating power. Hydro isn't renewable, all reservoirs have a life span. All energy on our plant ultimately comes from the sun. Norway as I understand is experimenting with solar power hydrogen stations. Why doesn't the U.S.?

Yup, very dangerous. I've been killed 3 times but only beheaded twice.:rofl_200:

"Except the guy is a Republican" exactly my point.

Great, so despite the fact that he is attempting statist legislation, and you are a statist, since he is "republican" you oppose hime. Its brainless minds like this that are the liberal's wet dreams. They could tell you the world is flat and you would be on the internet citing it as fact.

Hydro isn't renewable?? What are you huffing?

WINDMILLS?? Can you grasp the fact that the only reason windmills have been constructed is because the federal government vaccums the money out of the working class' wallets, under threat of prison, and then pays their chronies to build them? They wouldn't exist if they had no funding. THEY DON'T MAKE MONEY. We would be better off just lighting the money on fire and warming ourselves with it in the winter.
NORWAY?? There is the model the US should follow......:You_Rock:

Don't worry, I too have been surprised at how well the solar trials here went. I doubted it would work, but it did! :ummm:

According to google, Perth has an average of 8.8 hours of sunshine per day, and LA has approximately 9.2 sunlight hours per day.

Perth has about 1.74 million people, and is over 1300miles from the nearest city.
LA has about 3.82 million people, and is 125 miles from San diego.

Therefore, in LA you could buy solar panels cheaper than we can. (We pay for a lot of shipping here, and we have terrible economies of scale.)
Also, LA has more sunshine!

So I'd say that in at least some parts of the States, solar power is more than completely feasible.

I like the idea of hydrogen too. Especially because we can still have combustion engines! :punk:

ps. There are some reports here on our solar trials, but they are too f*ing long for me to bother reading. I've just learned from what my friends have experienced.

Ok...Consumer reports likes them, so they are a GREAT car, that are more expensive than my first house.

I think there should be free trade...so I am against what they are doing...but, you made this a republician vs democrat issue. Look at it this way...may if N.Carolina gave up their guns....and bowed down to the federal government, the DOJ would step in, and force the legislature to allow the cars to be sold.

Several of the states tried the same thing with getting the cars blocked, and the laws have been overtturned.

Dennis I am one to stand up and say that comment was total ********! :damn angry: and not needed, Please keep that **** to yourself!

^ I'm sorry you don't like that post but I really don't think my Opinion is BS or less valid than yours or anyone else's.
This guys posts a lot of BS about the United States and IMO he should keep his Opinions to himself.
But it's a Free country (well the US is, Mexico Not so much) and obviously he's entitled to his opinions, just like I am.
I just get sick of seeing his "I hate the US" themed threads, for that reason this users threads just seem to get to me.

But if you look I usually don't post much in these politically based threads because to me they are mostly just people's opinions with very little fact involved.
And you know what they say about opinions...

PS

Here's another post by another member that says the same thing I did:

I could probably find more but as stated above I tend to stay away from Politically oriented threads

I have never said " I hate the U.S." All posts are there for all to read. That **** all started because some of the more ignorant posts claimed that where I'm living is so very dangerous. They post all this stuff from different sources. What I'm saying is that I live here, ride my Vmax here, and all that violence isn't here. But I'm attacked personally by yahoo's who don't live here. Where is their credibility? Right now my wife and I are driving down to Ensenada. Beautiful Place. Very European. If I knew how to post pictures I would post some of all the attractive women hanging around the pool.

When your posting a reply....go to advanced on the right hand corner. Then click the manage attachments button about halfway down the page. Then click the browse button...and then the upload button. After it is uploaded, then click "close this box" in the bottom center. Then submit reply.

Hope that helps.

I've never seen you actually post "I hate the US", but most of your posts in the last few months certainly imply that you do.
As for credibility of other members, I've seen a lot of solid posts (with links to substantiate their claims) by those so called yahoos and very few by you that actually back up your position.

PS
No one ever said there aren't some good looking women in Mexico, there are some good looking women Everywhere in world.
PSS
Yes Ensenada is Beautiful, I stayed there quite a few times back in the mid 80's when I was Stationed in San Diego and we never had any real problems there.
But there were definitely parts of Ensenada we avoided just to be sure we didn't get into trouble.
And we did have to pay the corrupt police officers that regularly stopped our bus on the way there from the border.
