number 3 carberator

#3 Carbs always leak & have gas varnish stains all over the lower out and insides. these are from an eBay Venture set and another fer eBay for sale Vmax set. The #3 on my bike looked the same when I purchased in 2016. What causes dat?

That's odd. From the Vmax standpoint, that looks almost like the crankcase hose wasn't connected properly to the bottom of the air box and the vapors from it just shot out onto that carburetor.

I don't see a leaking gasket causing that sort of coloration. That looks more like oil vapor mixed with gas from the crankcase.
