OEM Shocks: Preload and damping

Stocks have 1-4 on them. That's your compression dampening adjustment.

What is the difference between damping and preload?? I've never understood that.

Personally i dont think the adjustments make any difference on those stock shocks.

I played with them shocks and never noticed a differnce when adjusting the damping.

I think that chrome top cover is for looks more than anything.

I gotta say that when I had the OEMs on and made adjustments, I could not notice any difference whatsoever either. Also I wondered about dismantling one of them shocks to see if that chrome cover was actually doing anything at all..
