oil build-up

While going over some issues getting my max ready for the riding season and the carbs were off, I looked down into the intake port. I saw oil deposits built on the intake valves. I think the oil must have come through the intake guides. This is going to bother me until it is fixed. Which means heads have to come off. I can see $ and a rebuild. I'm bummed out. Dave

I assume it was because I didn't see how carbon could build up outside of the combustion camber. FDD

It absolutely does! Just run a few tanks of Seafoam or Techron through the bike and that will reduce it...
