Please help, my Max is making a popping sound in first & second gear/ My mufflers are stock. I'm guessing it mite be a valve problem:damn angry: Anybody have an answer......Thanks rusty

I'm hoping it is carb related, that would be a lot better then doing a valve job. :confused2:

Rusty i have an ignition box if you want to try it-I'll ship it to you no charge if you want to see if that is the problem.. I also rebuild carbs if you need.
That's ok, can't do these things myself. I have a great mechanic at Ocean side cycle. Nick road my bike & he's not sure what's wrong yet. I really appreciate the offer though I'll tell Nick about the ignition box....thanks Jon:biglaugh:
He might be better off if he removed the carbs and sent them to you, a good clean and rebuild would be a good thing. I think it sounds like a carb problem as well.

Agreed. Do a visual check and see if your coil cases are cracked. Mine were. I found this AFTER going through the carbs, doing the "shotgun" clean, etc. #3 cylinder was popping and sputtering a lot, but not consistently. Maybe every 3 days.
I got and installed COPs from Blaxmax and everything is good. Ran 11.65 in the 1/4 mile after the install. :biglaugh:

I applied over a year ago Danny and after talking with Buster decided not to open west coast carbs on this site as not to step on the vendors toes or get in their business. I was to by him there were % fees and I have no problem with that. I also applied for Roadside Assistance but that has not come through yet.
Rusty has helped me in many ways and I appreciate it very much. I offered to send him an ecu unit to see if that was his problem and told him i rebuild carbs also. I had no intention of charging him nor did I state anywhere that i would charge him. He lives right down hwy 74 from me. There is nothing I wont do to help any member of the sites I am a member of and i have sent very many items to members at no cost to them and I have paid for the shipping.

You are welcome Danny. That is the reason I did not open a carb shop on here.
I remember offering you a free set of wires to go with the coils you sold-I can't be all that bad if you know what i mean. I saw pics of Jaime working on syncing a guys vmax in the back of a pickup yesterday under an overpass in the rain and only hope that I can help others in that way myself.
Jon, don't let them get to you there are a few on both forums who just try to find something to attack people about. The first time I deserved it I commented negatively about the other forum before I got to know it well. There are a few that just look to attack people I guess they need to make them selves feel good. Danny I am not talking about you at all so please don't think this is meant towards you.

I'd have your mechanic inspect the carbs for blocked passages and your coils for cracks on the underside.
