The original question was would a lighter bike with an equal power to weight ratio have an advantage off the line. The elise camaro example shows this not to be the case, we have two cars with a very similar power to weight ratio that are essentially even off the line, and further demonstrates the heavier more powerful cars advantage as the race goes on. The Mclearen Bugatti demonstrates the same thing.
The Elise/Camaro comparison actually does show the lighter vehicle being faster off the line. Elise is 10.5 lbs/hp, Camaro is 9.06bs/hp yet the Elise can match the Camaro despite it's worse lbs/hp ratio.
At the 1/4, the Elise is still punching above it's weight (literally) - 10.5/9.06 = 1.16 while 13.5/13.1=1.03. So, despite having a 16% penalty in weight/power ratio, the Elise is only 3% slower than the Camaro in the 1/4.
Like I said, most likely due to traction off the line.
