Looks like a normal sliding compound miter saw. Can be used for anything with proper blade. I've had two over the years. Did use mostly for woodworking though.

Just noticed, it looks exactly like one I had. Is is a Makita?

Yes mate...it's a makita copy...
The blade was an old 80 tooth tc tip....not many teeth left now though...
A proper Ali blade has negative rake on the teeth so it doesn't clog...I had to keep stopping to unblock the teeth.
My old trusty router and tc cutters is now working hard cleaning up the shape....lots of fun?..

Fantastic vision you have there mate. This bikes going to look wicked! :punk:

Cheers Bazwell :)

Got the airbox 90% finished....just needs the various fitting...crankcase breather etc..

Will do tomorrow mate.
The nose fairing is Yam rd125lc.....the bike was never imported to Australia so its pretty rare down here.
Not sure which way to go yet on the tail....I'll knock up a quick copy of the z650 one to cut about and try.

Well now, I do have to say that the level of work you are doing with this is quite impressive. While certain aspects I might choose to do differently, I love to see works in progress like this, and I am very much looking forward to the day when you have her ready for the road.

Those wheels look interesting. They have a look that is very similar to stock, but look much less overweight. What sizes are they, and where did you get them?

Sorry mate...only just saw your post.
The wheels are UFO..17" front and rear.
They're a bit heavier than stock but very over engineered. ...they'll be on a cnc diet later in the build.

Got the side plates roughed out for the side rails...bit of time on linisher and they'll be sweet. Got some 4mm flat strap to bend up and once welded up it will be strong as.

Just mocked up the front....
R1 legs have 120mm travel so mock up done to 125mm.
Slid legs up this amount....wheel just clears stock rad by 5mm......
Food for thought....maybe I can go one piece curved rad...

if you go for a curved rad like i mentioned before, check fan position and inlets and outlets in order not to have lots of hoses running around. Fan should be centered and most curved rads have the fan on top corners.

Sharky looks great so far. I'm kinda jealous, keep up the good work

If the wheel goes up that far the exhaust will have molded themselves to the engine from what it looks like in the pictures. I would think you need to lower the forks down some.

For what i understood Sean he measured the throw of the forks and slid the forks the same amount to imitate full compression and see where the wheel would go...

Correct Mr Weasel.
The forks have 'compressed' 5mm more than in real life (120travel,mock up 125).
Ground clearance is 120 under pipes.
I'm thinking dirt bike type bash plate...

The clearance does not include the tire or does? Are you saying at max travel you will hit the bottom of the engine/header (note the oil pan sticks below most headers just a little.) In a cornering situation there is even less clearance.
