Simple HeadLight Question

Hi Guys, I have a simple question..
When you turn your key to the on position, does your headlight come on?
Mine come on, then goes out as I press the starter. As soon as the bike fires up, it comes back on..
Just wondered, because a fellow rider made mention all of his bikes (Non V-Max's), the headlight should be off till the bike fires up.
I have a 91, purchased used, 2 years ago.

It is working correctly.

+1 If you don't like put another switch to low beam. High beam will still work and you can turn on low before driving

Cool.. Thanks for the reply.. Now I have to check my polarity on the turn signals. I want to hook up the 50 MCD LED replacment bulbs. They're much brighter than the 10w bulbs that are in there now. I'll see if I have to add resistance to the line for the flasher.
