Sony action cam!! Get one!!

I always wanted a gopro and am a huge online shopaholic. I will search for weeks before buying something. I was looking at the gopro hero 3+black edition. Well, I came across Sonys version, HDR as 100v. Thing is awesome!!! Found mine on Amazon as a daily deal for 150 bucks! It tracks your route via built in GPS. It then displays your route and speed on screen when you upload it. I am uploading one now and will post it later.

My cousin has that one and for the price I don't see why anyone would buy a GoPro

It took over 6 hours to upload to YouTube and was recorded in 1080p 60fps so excuse the low quality!! It's lengthy with some cameos from my wife and daughter.

Alright so YouTube takes a while to process. You can now select 1080p in the settings.

OK.. Since I'm into Video and Editing, I have to ask..
Is the OSD part of the camera?
Looks like only the speed is calculated.
Or is that something you added to the video via your cell phone's GPS tracking?

The GPS and overlay are part of Sony's software. Essentially you upload your video to your computer and it merges the two. VERY cool! And the battery life is great! You could go on a very long ride (several hours I suppose) on a single charge.

Does it allow for an external power source while in use?
Some cams only give you the USB charge option, not USB external power supply.

No external power, just USB charging. It does have an interface that you add an LCD screen and other options. It also has HDMI out as well as an audio port in. Again, I compared this all day to the GoPro and couldn't find a reason NOT to order it.

On the subject of USB powered operation: " need a Sony 12 volt adapter (kit # ACC-DCBX) for when we are in the car or in the wilderness, as this adapter will convert the car cigarette voltage into output 5V and 1.x A that is to Sony Action Cam's liking." I searched for this but it appears to be discontinued on Sony's site. So the search for an answer continues...
