Speeding ticket etiquette

Just yesterday I had a cop just Yell at me to slow down. He just poped out from behind a bush as I passed a truck. HE just pointed and yelled slow down, didn't even make me pull over. I just nodded and slowed down. I did happen to notice he was a motorcycle cop after I passed and could see the bike parked behind the bush.


He was there again this morning, but already had someeone pulled over as I went by. Plus I expected him so I was being good.

I don't understand running from the cops in the first place. What have you done that is so wrong? Popped a wheelie, burning the back tire, speeding? None of those things are that bad, if you pull over and act like an adult and treat the cop with respect he might not even give you a ticket.

The times I have ran were while I was speeding 120MPH+ usually its the cop going the other way and slamming on brakes to turn around.

Yes 120+ in a 70 is hmm lets see liscense revoked, possible jail time and well over 1500.00 in fines and insurances rates going up BIG time for the next 5 yrs.
If I am doing a burnout or a wheelie 10 over yeah I may considering to stop but most of the times I am running well over 20+ the speed limit on the interstates.
And the worst part when you get caught. They put your VMAX on a flatbed :bang head:

Whoever said you will eventually get killed running from the cops. Thats ignorant thats almost like a non motorcyclist saying motorcycles are dangerous your going to get hurt on that thing! Ignorance of a stereotype.
Been hmmm 18 yrs now I do have a limp but as they say if your a man and over 35 you havent lived life to the fulliest! Live life dont survive it./

Well there's a difference between passing a cop going the other way while you're 120+ going the opposite. And then there's being involved in a high speed chase. Big difference.

Last year I beat a speeding ticket in court. I was going about 90 in a 65 zone. Making people get out of the way with my 90/120 headlight bulb. Took it to court and explained that since it was at night the radar must have read someone else, a bigger vehicle. No way did the State Cop know he was aiming at a bike. Radar doesn't work at night in traffic. Too prone for mistake.

Y'all remember a while back..I sent in a local news clip regarding some squirrel on a Ninja, that killed himself and another innocent family man while doing about 100mph on a heavily traffic-ed local road...? If not, it's in here somewhere..look it up...

The thing is, y'all need to understand...that there are people out there, me being one for sure, that IF you should survive the wreck YOU cause when riding or driving like that, and you kill or seriously injure someone close to me... you WON'T survive, when I come for you... And you can bet yer ass, I'll be coming...

I would have no problem living out what time I've got left, doing time or waiting to get put down like Ol' Shep, when I'd have every day I do have left to remember the look on your face just before I pulled the trigger.

So do it your own way...but always remember...there could well be consequences to be paid.... if ever....

He doesnt haul ass just enough to keep the cop in sight than he will blast it out of site

I think the general consensus was that you split if possible.. And most are saying that if you're in the back you probably should stop - while if you're in the middle or front and can't split (on a highway), then you don't pull until he's behind you... (and then the back people were probably off the hook)

The key is that as few as possible get the ticket...

I don't pull over for the police until they tell me to pull over. If riding in a group, I would not pull the whole group over. I wouldn't run either, but the cop would have to wave me over or the such. I once ran from a cop in my car when I was 16 and had my license for about a week. He almost shot me in my driveway. Its not like I lived in The Hood either...this was Potomac, Md in the '80s, when Montgomery County was the most affluent County in the nation. I remember that cop too, gigantic black guy. It was not fun staring down his .357. Not worth it to me.

Yeah, I grew up in Potomac. I passed the cop going 100 on Tuckerman in my dad's '86 T-Bird Turbo Coupe. I was close to home, so I just drove home figuring by the time he turned around, he would never find me. That concept was proven wrong when he came sliding into my front lawn. That was one pissed Montgomery County cop. I had alot of trouble with them back then. Once I got my GTO, they would follow me for miles. I once gave one of them the "Star Trek" twice without knowing he was behind me. Once from a light, and then from a roll when he came up on my bumper. He had no lights on at all and it was virtually dark. When I opened up a good 10 car lead on him, he turned on all of his lights. I got 5 tickets that evening.

Last time I went back was about 10 years ago. I was amazed at the development and the traffic. People paying $750k to live in a Townhouse under the powerlines on the PEPCO right of way. Sad. It was still somewhat the country when I grew up there. You could drive 10 minutes and be on awesome country roads. People were so desperate for that address that Potomac is now about 10 times as big as it used to be.

I lived on Maxwell Drive. Went to Churchill. Class of '88.
