I was lookin at bikes for sale and came across this. I've been thinking of drilling my end caps over the 5 holes but somebody beat me to it.

They're plenty of options depending on how creative you'd like to be!
End caps - Black paint/chromed screws or chrome the end cap with black screws or color match it with your bike's paint????

Some thoughts....

That's a nice picture.

I'm still running rich, the plugs are Brown. Atleast they're all even in color.
I do run a few other things in my gas that might be part of it. I might try a
few things with the exhaust to open it up some more. Nothing I can do on
the other end, it has a K&N.

Our forum has plenty of tuning experts but this mod only requires a few tweaks. Wouldn't hurt to get a new set of plugs/check gap. Change main jet to 147.5 and reset A/F screw - Sync carbs. Put a few miles - check plugs. Or talk with Sean he can advise on what parts you need.

I did the five hole mod to my bike's exhaust with no noticeable difference in performance. I left the end caps off, painted the insides flat black, and put 3/16" rivets back in the existing rivet holes. I wanted to preserve the factory look as much as possible without drawing attention to the work I had done. I like the sound, but would still prefer an aftermarket exhaust of some kind.....perhaps next summer. Speaking of exhaust, I was driving today (truck driver) and a guy riding a 2009 Vmax came up next to me, he was running the new Vance and Hines pipes. The light changed green and he opened up the throttle....I can't really describe the sound other than to say "wood"

The bike's running great, carbs are synced near perfectly too. I run some additives in my fuel that may be the cause of the brown plug color. I put a new set of plugs in today and will run them for a real reading as soon as I can. Thanx for the ideas.

Wow, Things picked up behind the scenes for me at ar15.com.

Finally here with more. I made end caps with 5 outer holes and a 1" cut out in them.
I spaced them off by 1/2" and riveted in place. At first the sound was obnoxious and
I thought the bike would run like crap.

Well, Took a ride at various speeds about 50 miles. The bike ran great and I got used
to the sound. The plugs couldn't get any better. The insulator is just a very light tan. I
think I'll leave things this way for a while. I need to replace fuel line and change the
coolant next. And, I have to do some shooting too.

Picture of one of the end caps I made.:ummm:
