i'll be very careful when doing so. I have the filler neck of the tank sealed off right now and I'm waiting on my POR15 tank sealer stuff to get here. Once I get it I'll be using muriatic acid and some dry wall nails or a strand of small chain to get the rust out. Then I heard to rinse it with acetone or something like that, let it air out a bit, then dump in the tank sealer, seal everything off, and then roll it around for a long time.

Haven't had experience with the POR 15 tank sealer but the other stuff i've seen from them is good. Let me know what it looks like when you get it done. I have an old tank for my Seca Turbo that I need to do something and been sitting here trying to figure out the best course of action. It's been to the radiator shop to be boiled out and they also did the muratic acid treatment so that's at least out of the way.

I've used the Kreem stuff to good effect. I think it's real important to let it dry and cure long enough before putting any gas back in the tank.

Also after both the acid treatment and the acetone solution wash, it's a good idea to hang the tank for a day or two with low pressure compressed air blowing through it - really helps drying it out properly. If it's not clean/dry, the coating will not stick properly and peel off causing nightmares.

I'm also interested to see what that POR-15 looks and feels like once in and cured. The tank I just put in my Max (from the spare bike) had a coating that looked like some kind of silver very hard paint, I've never seen anything like it before.

Today I replaced the glass fuel filter with an OEM one, and was pretty horrified to see the amount of crap the pump already managed to suck out of that tank, and I thought I'd got it pretty clean! Anyway the bike's running great still, so at least I know the filter did its job properly..

I ordered the POR15 and it should be here in a week. Next weekend should be tank coating time!
