Tar off pipes

After work today i was washing my Max to see what was on the pipes wasnt dirt but tar . On my ride to Taupo i encountered about 100 roadworks . I also remember smelling tar burning and was just thinking it was the right muffler as it had gone into the road and was bogged up with tar etc months back . I did notice the pipes were dirty but didnt give it a second thort .
Whats the best way to get this stuff off without scratching the pipes . :ummm:

Matt, there are some sprays like tar and bug remover, however just use some petrol or kerosene.

Thort bout doing that , gonna let it dry . Gonna be job for tomorrow now .
Had a good look underneath and there is quite abit and on mufflers and shaftdrive . Bloody roadworks .

I think Simple Green cleaner works pretty good on tar too - without having to work with flammable liquids. :ummm:

Update : I used CRC our version of WD40 it all came right off . :clapping:
