Hunh...that huge glob of aluminum called the handlebar clamps lends a lot of rise and pullback. Just for giggles I flipped it around...like it!
It won't fit flush to the top triple without grinding off the threads for the speedo mount though, and I dont' want to do that.
So maybe I'll just snag the standard UJM risers off the KZ440 for now, they will fit and that would get me over an inch down and almost three inches forward....and I'd just have to fab up a bracket for the speedo.

Because of course the guy who's drinking beer and watching the superbowl and swears he'll weld you up a set of bars and goes outside with you to measure the bike, doesn't bother returning calls when it's time to make it happen.
Calls himself a friend but I just have to wonder....

I said I'd gladly pay for labor and materials. Dammit if you say you're going to do something, do it.

let me know if the links dont work and i can point you in the direction of the info.
p.s. i told ya you would like the rear sets! once you sort the bar issue, you'll enjoy the ride. i have a 2000 aprilia rsv mille and i can only ride about 60 miles before my hands are numb so i know what you're feelin. i just installed the over racing bar risers to my setup to get a little more height and pullback on the dragbars i have on the bike. the R1 front end lowered the front a little and i noticed it in my wrists, with the risers it's now perfect. good luck and i hope you sort it out. you'll miss out on a whole different riding experience if you get rid of it. there are very few bike that command the looks and respect of the v max where ever you take it!!

I like the clipons in the last link...but still I can't put that much cash into bars. Not now.
The big Yamaha Road Star cruiser has risers that will fit the Vmax, they are short and have a kickback. I just ebayed a set and I'm gonna put 'em on backwards and make a bracket for the speedo.
But I really like those clipons....

Replacing the stock risers (that have a lot of rise and pullback) with these, except I'll mount them backwards for some extra forward lean:

These are from a Yamaha Royal Star cruiser, they have the same fittings and other than a bracket for the speedo (already started on that), they should fit right up.

Look very similar to what Yamaha offers on many of their bikes. Even the Fazer back in 86 had risers like that but I think a tad taller. We actually took a set off and put the vmax ones in and the spacing was dead on. Had to modify the upper tripple a little bit for them to sit in as far as we wanted but still pretty easy.

Yeah these are real similar to the Virago and tons of the other Star cruisers. But these ones had that low rise and the kick forward. I hope they arrive tomorrow, it's time to start polishing up for Daytona!

Done. The Star cruiser risers are for 1" bars so I made spacers for my bars and went ahead with the install.
It's right now, no more "trained seal" posture.

But...the hydraulic lines are ridiculously long now.

Good news Jenn, glad that you were able to find a way to get the handlebars in the right position. :thumbs up:
I'm sure Mr. Morley will be able to help with custom length lines when your ready.

Hmm...pink lines.....naaaah!

Funds are just too low, the stupid lines are wrapped in a curly-Q on the way to the calipers.

But saving my back had to come first. Then a new tire. Now I can save up for lines!
