in which regard? our feeling of it being better?

In the sense of that as long as it doesn't invovle them they have no opinion one way or the other.
I suppose it is taught in schools as in this example; the teachers at a local school have a policy handed down that said that since laptops were given to the kids by the federal gov't the school could not take them from the kids. So they "allow" the kids to be on FB durimg class! This also applies to phones. When I was growing up my geometry teacher would fling a piece of chaulk/ eraser at you if you were'nt paying attention or heaven help you if you were trying to talk!
If the federal gov't wants to teach the kids that the feds let them surf/ chat during class what are they going to learn? not geometry!
I will ask her to retell the situation as it was during our lunch and their was 6 of us talking, but I'm pretty sure I have the basic premise right. She has 3 high schoolers, of which 2 are great students.

I really wish I could let most of you see into my mind for a brief visit. I've been exposed to more more information in my lifetime, good and bad than God or whoever you believe in should ever allow. At times, it totally overwhelms me. Some of the things I have in there would seriously enlighten some of you and be a horendously rude awakening for others. Everyone has to make their own decisions about issues, past present and future. That's a given right. The second amendment,,, as we find in this thread is only a small part of the whole "Big Picture" I know where I will be in all of this, do you.... And, will you be right or wrong in your choice?????? Will the world be a better place because of your choice or in spite of it?????

Dave
I have no doubt there are things that what I believe to be true and what it actually is would astonish me. You have to choose what is important that is sure, whether is is a natural decision or one you have to fight through, you have to fully embrace it. Never is the time for half baked decisions, what is needed is your strength and convictions of what is right.

Separation of Church and State

"I support the doctrine of separation of church and state as traditionally interpreted to prohibit the establishment of an official national religion. But this does not mean that we should divorce government from any formal recognition of God. To do so strikes a potentially fatal blow at the concept of the divine origin of our rights, and unlocks the door for an easy entry of future tyranny. If Americans should ever come to believe that their rights and freedoms are instituted among men by politicians and bureaucrats, they will no longer carry the proud inheritance of their forefathers, but will grovel before their masters seeking favors and dispensations -- a throwback to the feudal system of the Dark Ages." (Ezra Taft Benson, "Freedom Is Our Heritage," 10 Nov. 1970)

I take this even further personally, but I thought it was an excellent quote. The last sentence is happening before our eyes. :damn angry::bang head:

SpecialOps,

I think we may be on the same page on most things but what you write above.:ummm: You remind me of a Senator that says he has confidential info on foreign policy matters that he cannot divulge so just trust me and hand over your son and daughter to fight, and maybe die, in an oil soaked country thousands of miles away populated by tribal Bedouins so we can bring them democracy, just trust me........

You have made claims that I am of the opinion are false or most likely HIGHLY embellished, and it disturbs me. I am respectfully calling you out on it.

O

I just want to be left the **** alone, as long as I'm not hurting anyone then its nobodies damn business what god I worship or if I worship one at all... The second amendment is only writing on a piece of parchment, it is natural right to defend yourself and all that the second amendment does is supposedly limit what the government can do to infringe on this natural right... Unfortunately the dirty *******s aren't following it...

i'd respectfully disagree. I don't think government should be tied to god or religion in any way. I think men are capable of believing in their rights, their forefathers and that no one (politicians and bureaucrats) is above the laws we have decided. i'm not saying thats the way its working but rather there should be complete separation.

I said; "I wish you could see into my mind for a short time". Without a "Vulcan Mind Meld" you wouldn't believe me on a lot of things anyway. I made zero claims in my post as to what I know. Just made a statement that there are a lot of un-found truths in this world. You have to learn those lessons for yourself and form your own opinion. That's the reason we're here on this forum going back and forth with thoughts, ideas and concerns. I learn new views too, from both sides of the discussions.

Call me on issues all you want. Only I know for certain, that what I write is true. There's nothing I could possibly do to convince you 100% that what I know is actually true and not BS..

Truth or Lie? Is the Cat in a Box, Dead, Alive or Both at a given instant? We really don't know........ Truth is the same way until we actually experience it.

This Is An Interesting Read:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liar_paradox

BTW: I've offered my services in foreign conflicts to save the sons and daughters of others. My life is of no consequence. Those who have died at a young age still had a chance to influence the world in a positive way. I have been turned down every time I've offered. Answer, I'm a Potential Catastrophic Danger to National Security in the wrong hands because of the things I have seen and done. Not My Words, Our Government's Words. I have travel restrictions outside the US, even today. I have to check in with and be cleared by NSA to enter any other country. Now, is that true or am I lying? You'd have to be in the line of any travel requests I make to see for sure. Otherwise, You're not cleared to know.

Thats fine Garrett. I guess the question is, where do your rights come from, What is the basis for the laws that we have. The founding fathers felt there rights came from God (Creator) and used Biblical principles as a standard for the documents/laws. So I would say that God/religon had much to do with our Government foundations. Freedom of religon is a part of that. According to the quotes and what is written, thats what they believed. The beauty is, that because of the constitution, we can choose to form are own opinion, and believe however we choose.

"The future and success of America is not in this Constitution, but in the laws of God upon which this Constitution is founded.?

? James Madison (1751-1836) Father of the Constitution, 4th President of the U. S.

It does seem that most of the founding fathers were deists in the quick research, so I do agree they believed the laws they set forth were the 'laws of god.' In my opinion they also didn't get it right fully, and we have since made edits to the amendments and such. One example being slavery, if these were the laws of god, why did we not abolish slavery then and there? At the end of the day it comes down to mans interpretation of what they believe. Thats what scares me i guess, that interpretation. If you take all aspects of religion out of it, i believe we are better off. I think people can live good, respectful lives and be honest people without having any belief in a religion or a god.

I completely agree with that!!

submitted all my CHL paperwork last week. Now I need to find an acceptable gun and ammunition.

I was on a project in a police department yesterday and sitting on a table was a slick magazine by the "Southern Povert Law Center" and the front page read, "Anti Government "Patriot" extremist groups on the rise again".:damn angry:

It should have read "Pro Constitution "Patriot" groups on the rise".

"Words do mean things", (as I was taught by a Jesuit, Father Skalko of Providence, many years ago.):worthy:

I do believe that if things do go bad that the police will not be on the side of the people, they owe the Gov. for their huge often double dipping pensions, early retirments and all the other goodies, they will never bite the hand that feeds them. Have you noticed how they are dressing more and more military all the time? Of, course it is a given that Homeland Security will turn on the people, I believe that is why they exist, and look for dimwits to hire.

I have wondered in the past why in Iraq the "Insurgents", often target police stations and recruit traing centers, I still wonder..................................:ummm:
