The Corbin seats sold by the Yamaha dealers (has Yamaha on the tag also) do NOT have the backrest hardware. They were considerably cheaper that the ones purchased from Corbin though. Another way to tell is look at the seat bottom. You can see the square shaft there also. If the flap at the rear is sewn down instead of velcroed, it does not have the backrest hardware either.

As for Richwrench's backrest, that's awesome! Unfortunately I don't have the time/facility to fabricate something like that. (stoopid apartment).

if you don't go with rich, check out the renntec's (my favorite) or the HAC (easily removable) lots of info here. if u want to end up going with renntec let me know, i got one for $200 shipped from the UK and can give you the email of the guy

Well that takes care of that.

Time to check with Rich.

vmax seats

I have an ufo seat and a corbin seat. The corbin is hard as a rock and the ufo seat hurts my back. Is there a seat that is comparable to a mustang seat because I had one on my royal star and I loved it. Please help me!

I want to hear this too......cause I'm not happy with my 20 + year old Corbin (or when it was fresh for that matter) and will need to make an improvement in this area also this coming off-season......:damn angry:

Re: vmax seats

I have come to the following conclusion about V-max seats.

Everything sucks.

No matter what you do to 'em, there's no getting around the limitations imposed by fueling. ATM I'm looking to move my fill cap to rear seat and just have something else built from scratch for the drivers seat.

Re: vmax seats

Sean from Morley's muscle is the seat mod specialist in these parts,...he assures me that he can redo a Corbin to be very comfortable,..
I gave up my Corbin to him cause i wanted the stock saddle with his lower cut re skinned model.
All I can say so far is they look great ,..I have'nt had the oppertunity to ride my Max as the exhaust is away being ceramic coated ,...but I 've heard really good feed back on the riding comfort level.

Mustang seats are made by Sargent and Sargent WILL re-work your Vmax seat but they aren't a common place to go. Your best bet is to get your Corbin reworked to make it softer and thinner.

I stole the foam from my old honda cruiser and re shaped it a bit to fit the vmax base, it`s nice and flat on top and I left plenty of foam for cushion and now, those long rides aren`t so bad anymore.
IMO if you want a comfortable seat, go to asalvage yard and grab an old seat from a cruiser and play with it until it fits you personaly and re cover it on the vmax base.
It worked for me just fine.:eusa_dance:

This is Seans 1 1/2" lowered reskinned seat in carbon fiber look.
And I like it ...I now sit down in the bike , not up on the beast's back.
Feels much more confident for my 30" inseam.

I just got through reading all the posts on this thread. A lot of good info. I hadn't really planned on any long distance rides on my max, but something more comfy would be nice for some shorter 50-60 mile jaunts. I do most of my long distance trips on my FJR. Sean's seats look like some quality work. Also impressed by all the positive reviews. I'll probably have to pull the trigger as soon as I get just a little more irritated with the stocker.

OK, OK I'm sold on a Morley Seat. Thing is, I won't be able to afford it until next season at the earliest, and I am wondering about the best TEMPORARY solutions people have come up with. I am currently riding a stock seat and would like to be able to put several hundred miles on at a time. I looked at an Airhawk, but I'm really looking for something at 40 or 50 bucks (or less).

Robbarrie's homegrown mod looks promising, but I would really like a bit more info (maybe a step-by-step) before cutting my seat up on my own. If I do something similar, will it destroy the option of having Sean rework it later on. Does Sean rework stock seats or do I need to send him a Corbin?

sean is to the vmax as chuck norris is to life!!! but in all seriousness he specializes in stock seats, but also does corbins'. you won't be dissapointed. i'd say theres really no good option. kinda u get what you pay for. however you could probably get just the driver seat re-done for cheaper if u watned to go that route.

You could try a sheepskin. Helps some and is in the price range you are talking about.

Dale Walker indicated to me that he will sell Holeshot-logo-ed Corbin seats. As Dale put it, "I will be glad to make that owner a Holeshot / Corbin logo seat with my logo at my cost or very close ." I told Dale that he will have some serious competition in the VMax seat business!

Visit www.holeshot.com and either email or phone Dale for details if you're interested. Dale didn't have a pic of this product on a VMax yet but this is how the logo looks on a Corbin for a Suzuki Bandit.

Replacing Stock seat: any step-by-step guides? I browsed the forum but didn't find anything specific. It might be a no-brainer but doesn't hurt to ask!

I'm taking off my corbin and putting the stock seat back on the Max. I've got all the hardware, just looking for a how-to guide to install if available.

Thanks,

Blaine

nothing much to it. Slide the rear seat tab under the locator in the grabrail/backrest and bolt the 2 bolts in it (1 on each side). The slip the front seat on with the tab just like the corbin. Click it into place and done.

If you really want to make it like stock you can put the 4 bolts that hold the front seat back into place. 2 go through the corner plastic and were #3 phillips screws from factory. There there were 2 10mm bolts though the spring/hinge area. The easiest way to access those is to slide the slip all the way forward in the channels (look at the seat closely and you'll see the channels on the sides).
