Re: VMOA activities in New York

North East... New England... Same geo area... Right?

ah ok NE = north east. got it now.

the americade rally is "the" event in New York state (outside of NYC).

I am the upstate NY chapter leader. I participate in many local bike night and fund raiser type events and have rarely seen more than one vmax at any events around central NY (utica-syraucse region)

The last club listing I rec'd had roughly 12-15 members in NY state.

Last year I participated in the champlain valley bike rally in August. The only other vmax I saw over three days of the event came in from Vermont.

I travel a lot of my job and cover the champlain valley (Plattsburgh) as well as Utica and Syracuse.

If any members are reading this and would like to get together for a vmax event or particapate as a group in a bigger event, i would be happy to organize it. Better yet, get your non-member vmax friends to participate and join us.

The truth is, around central NY, vmax sightings are fairly rare.

Steve,

I will be there from the 9th to the 13th. I will bring my Blower Bike if I haven't sold it by then. Regardless Look forward to seeing you in June.

I don't think you need to join a club and pay for something like discounts or vmax info that can be had for free on sites like this or the Star site, if you need to be part of a club join one in your area ! You will do more riding with other bikers then waiting for a VMOA ride. The other Plus here in NY is the guys you meet in your local club will be close and wanting to ride just as much as you and have a inside line on local parts and service or just be there to lend a hand

Resigned North East Director VMOA

Mark you are 100% correct!!

Garret,

I am also originally from Utica. Moved out to Syracuse in 1988. My riding buddies both still live in Whitesboro. Last couple of years I rode to americade with them. I started in Syracuse, met them in whitesboro, then we rode to lake george via rt 8 and rt 30. Beautiful ride but we did an out and back in the same. It kicked by butt to wrestle that thing 400 miles in one day. With a raked frame, stretched swing arm and fat tire, its not exactly a canyon carver lol ! keeps the upper body in good shape though !

I have a place in Syracuse and one in Plattsburgh. I work both areas. I take my bike everywhere between the two cities one of three routes:

the northern route: syracuse-watertown-Gouverneur-potsdam-malone-plattsburgh

straight across the adirondack park:syracuse-rome-barneveld-speculator-chestertown-plattsburgh

southern route: syraucse-utica-amsterdam-saratoga springs-plattsburgh

I can be at any event from central to easter NY as long as it doesn't interfer with my work schedule.

I do occassionally take it out to rochester and buffalo as well.

there is about 200 pictures of the evolution of the bike over four years at www.imageevent.com/fatmax

Love the bike! Looks like you had a goal and put a lot of sweat-equity into making it happen.

How long does it take to get your membership approved? I sent my $30 via Paypal a week ago and still waiting.

Jack,

First off welcome to the VMOA! It can take the Membership Director a couple of weeks to get the membership processed and a package out to you. Add in mail time and it can take 3 weeks or so. If you have not heard from us in a couple of weeks PM me here and I will look into what is taking so long.

Didnt even know about VMOA til just now. Checked out the site and have to say this forum is set up much better. Throwing all tech subjects into one forum is nuts. No club Director in my area. So at the moment the only benny I see is the 10% discount Sean gives for some of his services. Not trying to start anything. Just my 2 cents.
