The Royal Enfield Bullet is a long-running production model which puts the VMax to-shame, though it (the VMax) was built for 22 years, longer than Henry Ford built the venerable Model T. The Bullet was a WWII tool defending democracy, and in 1947, the British bike was begun to be built in India, as-well as in England. Production stopped in the UK in 1970, and it's been an Indian product since then. Newer models have been released, but the original has survived nearly-since Ford sedans were equipped with cable-operated brakes (a source of great contention between Edsel Ford and his father, Henry Ford).
Fritz Egli, the famous Swiss bike manufacturer whose large-diameter 'spine'/backbone frame design pre-dated the perimeter frames of modern motorcycles, has for decades used the Royal Enfield Bullet as the basis for a much-modified model of the 500cc four-stroke OHV single. His Royal Enfields addressed the shortcomings of the original, and also allowed the bikes to be sold in different world markets as government regulation forced manufacturing changes, while also increasing performance and longevity to a significant degree.
