Trashed final drive

I couldn’t believe how trashed this final drive was when I pulled it apart
I bought my 89 vmax recently and it had a very noisy final drive
so I pulled it out and there is not much left that is any good

I have never seen one that bad before and I have stripped quite a few final drives on XS1100, XJ900 and Vmax models. They are normally extremely strong. I wonder if it was run without oil , or assembled wrongly if previously stripped. Your only option is complete replacement it appears to me...

Not uncommon at all for the nut to snap off. The rest is more water than normal. I have plenty of good used one's fairly priced if you need one. [email protected]

Okay! Now's the time to get that Venture final. Hear that mod monkey's whimper's of anticipation LOL. There's a ton of 1200 venture finals but only this one XVZ1300D 86-93 , $40 right now on flea bay.

are they a better final drive?, any mods to fit them and is ratio the same?
