Trying to Install COP's and bike is backfiring

I have a 97 Vmax with the stock TCI. I got some COP's from ebay from a 2004 gsxr. I decided to use the facory harness so I wired it up the the COP's harness' with the red/white wire hook up to the right side wire on the COP. I installed the back two coils no problem, fired it up and ran fine. Now with the front two installed also it runs like crap and backfires a whole bunch. With the stock coils on the front two cylinders and the COP's on the back two the bike runs fine. I checked and I am getting spark on both front coils. What gives?

Seems to be pretty common for guys to hook the wrong coil to the wrong cylinder. The front right coil feed the front left spark plug and vice versa.

Thats about all I have to offer on this one, sorry, LOL.

Yep, that's the case.

Happened to me too, exact same thing. Started but would run like ass and backfire constantly. Switch the connectors on the front two COPs and you should be fine.

Been there done that! I remember the relief when I switched the the front coil plugs and when I hit the starter it started up immediately! WHEW!
