"The Voodoo Speakeasy will fit in ALL Voodoo Shorty Exhausts.
Simply by inserting in the existing Voodoo baffler, decibels are 4-6 lower! "

I'm going to swap out the mufflers for a larger set of carbon cans.
Bought some today. I need more like 8-10 db lower.
Thx karmakat, was the push I needed.

My pleasure!!!

Forget the UFO megaphone for making the exhaust sonically-acceptable, it's still very loud! I tried one Jon made for my 4/1 and it was a bit quieter, but still loud. Different cans will do it, you just need to get good-sized ones w/some baffling. I got some 'Busa ones I am waiting to find the time to adapt.

There are three ideas I had about the buddy problem. UFO sells the mega phone muffler they say it tones it down some, but still loud. Stay on the right side of the lane so the complainers are all on your left. Lastly and my personal favorite keep them as small blurs in the mirrors.

I like that idea! I just have to figure out a way to mount my phone on the outside of the bike. I would hate for it to end up like my blackberry did, it fell outta my backpack. Never seen it again :(

It was probably your blackberry doing you a favor as it knows it's end is coming. :(

I just fitted a pair of carbon mufflers, off a triumph Daytona 900, fitted straight on. Sounds awesome. It's still a loud bike, not as super loud as the UFO, but, to me, it sounds heaps better.
Deeper and meatier ( quote from Debbie does D) ......
Sound just like my previous 01 carbon max with Over-racing carbon cans, but the UFO headers must be making a difference because alot of air is coming out the back!

Ok, but I'm having issues posting picture, except if I start the thread.
Is the best way to do video with a link to you tube?

When you reply to a thread click on the "go advanced" button on the bottom right, and then halfway down...there will be a "manage attachments" button, then that will allow you to upload the pictures.

A lot of people will post videos...so you can click on the attachment button on top (the paperclip) that will allow you to post a video. 95/100 you will see the small video in your post...sometimes it will just post it as a link to youtube....I don't know why the difference. Hope that helps.

I installed my Dragstar a couple of weeks ago. It is loud, but no louder than my old Yoshimura short can race pipe was on my '86 GSXR1100. I was a little apprehensive about riding it through my small town in the wee hours, but now I've had dozens of encounters with local police in traffic and no one seems to care.
My best friend told me to stay 70-80 feet away from him on the highway, but he's gotten over it. I think the biggest contributor to the decibel level is the tune. When I first put it on I was running way too lean, and the pipe was very loud. As I have tuned it in, and the baffle has gotten seasoned, it has mellowed a lot.
As to the sound, the best compliment I've gotten so far was my best friend's kid, a new rider himself, comes up and looks at it idling and waits for me to turn it off. He stays quiet for a moment, thinking, then he grins and says "That is just vulgar!" I'm OK with that.

Those of you old-enough to know, what did the bands of the 1960's and '70's & into the '80's all-use on-stage for their shows? Banks of Altec-Lansing Voice of the Theater speakers.

When someone who knew what he was doing ran the soundboard at the concert, you would have a silken sound that was loud, but not punishing in a 120 dB fashion. I think that the equation was that bands who could afford the best equipment would set their road crews up w/the best you could get-speakers, amplifiers, mics for the performers, and the end result was even the huge interiors of sports amphitheaters could sound decent, which was a hard thing to do, given the limitations of design, furnishings and volume. Halls designed for acoustics didn't seat enough paying patrons to allow the arena-rock bands at the peak of their careers to play in those places. After time there was some movement to return to a better acoustic environment and those shows got people willing to pay more for better acoustics and smaller capacities. A more-intimate seating arrangement, not in the five-figure seating capacity area, proved to be a good move for the bands because they were able to enjoy themselves more than in a 20,000 seat capacity stadium.

A good exhaust (to me) is one which combines performance and a limitation on loudness so you can use the upper rev ranges in a populated area w/o destroying everyones' hearing momentarily as you roar-by at 8,000 rpm.

That's what drove me to reduce the UFO sound via my mod to a point where babies won't cry, mothers won't give me dirty looks, and cops won't automatically target-fixate via excessive noise presence.

Bonus points if you know who the band is! (no 'properties' search!) And, who's the guy w/the hat next-to the guy at the mic?

My only disagreement....
How in the hell can you use the upper rpm range in populated areas?!

I can humiliate all redlight wanna-bes without getting that serious. The upper range is for wide open (safe) spaces.

With my Frankencan(ister) for my UFO 4/1, I can do that in 1st & 2nd gears, and then roll-out of the throttle, and upshift twice or three times, to innocently cruise at reduced sound. It happens so-quickly! Meanwhile, anything on 4 wheels is playing catch-up.

I have the dragstar exhaust on mine . The first time I started it was in the basement. My wife was directly above me in the kitchen. Sounds completely awesome I love it!

So, who is the band and the 'guy w/the hat next-to the fellow at the mic' in #34?
