i just tip the hole carb rack over and shine a light thru them or use natural light outside, turn the idle screw down until carb 2 is just open enough to get a little light through it, then use sync screws to match the other three carbs. you can also open the carb 2 more until you can get a small piece like paper clip or small drill bit to fit, then match other three carbs the same, then after its on the bike, turn the idle screw to the desired 950-1100rpm.
