Vmax Gas Filter Question

Want to change my gas filter, some folks say go to the glass type so all you need to do is change inside filter. I believe someone else said you can pick one up at a local auto parts that will fit the Vmax. I assume it is a 5/16 hose type, and the filter element can handle the ethanol in gas without breaking down.

I'm plan on changing mine at 10K; end of this riding season or next spring. I plan on staying with the stock / OEM version from Yamaha. The stock filter uses paper, which has a smaller pore size (opening) compared to the aftermarket versions you can get at auto stores. Thus better filtering of particulates / junk from the gas coming from the tank. Crap you DON't want to get into those very small carb jets !! JMO.
