Both, actually... When I turned the key on, I usually got a full cycle open, then closed, then this odd, spastic sound almost like a short as the VBoost kept moving back and forth for a bit... Took me a while to figure out what it was doing (finally got down with a flashlight and watched the process).

Before noticing the odd cycling, the bike would randomly surge, miss, and generally act strangly at cruising (throttle steady) above 4-5K RPM.

Finally, I turned the key on while holding the VBoost controller in my hand and found that by flexing the circuit board very slightly (or tapping it) I could make the VBoost move all over the place. Attempted the resolder and wireloom fixes, but ultimately bought an adjustable controller from MicroMachines and have never had the issue again.

Great information.....thanks!!

I too had the problem where flexing the board caused the VBoost problems. I tore into the controller, removed the resin from the board, and resoldered. This fixed the problem, at least for now.

just something nice about a black header... mmmmm...

hey sean.. have you ever used black exhaust wrap with any success?

We've wrapped headers before with good results (at least at first). I am not 100% sold on bikes though since they look like *** the first time you scrape the ground with your header. Also, they can hold moisture and have your header rot out.

fair enough... good stuff to consider...

and now back to the original topic.. :eusa_dance:

I got the parts in from Morley and started fitting the exhaust. I didn't have a whole lot of time to work on it as I have been nursing a pretty serious hangover from Friday night. I had an "Un-Employment Party" since I got laid off on Friday... sounded like a good time to have some friends over and get lit up! :punk: I already have a construction job lined up, but it just sucks... for me, my wife, my old company, etc.

Abe, with any luck, I should have your bike completed this week. My biggest concern is still that electrical demon. We may try to unplug your v-boost, maybe change out the motor, switch some boxes etc. I'd really like to find out what is wrong before you take it back to Chi Town. I'm sure I'll be able to figure out somehting. I'll try to update you more with the progress and get some pics uploaded.

Jeff,

Sorry to hear about your job! That electrical demon was pretty constant and I NEVER rode the bike even 1 mile without it showing it's head. You have gone on several test rides already and have not had any issues...SOOOO....I don't know what you did but it sounds like you did it! As far as vboost goes I would like to get that issue resolved if possible. I have no problem spending a few extra bucks considering what I got into it at this point anyway.

Thanks again and I owe you BIGTIME brother! If you get time post/email some pics as I have a pretty decent progress pic book going at this point.

Abe

Well Abe, I was able to take your bike out for a quick ride tonight to get some gas put in it. It was cold to say the least! It was popping at lower RPMs, so I'll have to look into that. Once you opened it up, the ******* child wanted to RUN! I still have the purge solenoid wiring to do yet and tidy things up a bit, but we are getting close. No wobbles, the front end feels a 100 times better, and you can stop, so that is good. The thing fired right up, but that popping is going to bug me, I'm wondering if I have something loose creating a lean mixture. :ummm: I'll have some good time tomorrow to work on it and hopefully ride it some more. I would really like it if you could spend a few hours here with me going over things. I messed with the V-Boost a little more as well. I'm still confused with what is going on with that damn thing! At times, it sounds like the motor is very weak or is getting a weak signal/power to run it, and the other times it sounds like the thing has all kinds of power and voltage. It is making me think there is a loose wire or bad connection somewhere. It never did miss on me though.:confused2: I guess that is a good thing?

Here are some pics, the bike isn't super clean, but we are getting there. I'm not sure if you like where the bottle is located, I just put it there for a temp location. I'll try to give you a call tomorrow, or feel free to give me a ring when you have some time 319-461-8969 and we can go over more of this over the phone. If you have time to come down this week/weekend that would work out pretty well for me.

Looks great Jeff! I say screw Abe....keep it. Lol

You can borrow my vboost controller if you want. PM me if interested.

I think I have 2 other controllers, but if worse comes to worse, Abe will be going home with the controller off my 02 since I know it is good! I can mess with the old controllers on my own bike.... may even disconnect the damn thing and ride!

Jeff,

You are the man! Let me know about next weekend. I plan on bringing a trailer this time with a ramp (fully enclosed). I will need that to haul all the money I owe you! :biglaugh:

That ******* probably overcharged you.....you know how those Indiana folk are.:eusa_dance:

Yes I do...but the Illinois ones are about twice as bad! Ever hear of Obama, Blagobitch or Ryan? Our criminals are not only low class like Indy's.:rofl_200:
