So Kawasaki's got me "seeing green". After riding the Z1000, I just absolutely have to have one. Comparing the Z to my Vmax is like comparing a Vmax to a Harley. It's just such a massive, incredible difference. Everything I like about the Vmax, the Z does better five-fold. It's brutally fast. It's got a ****-your-pants power swell as the RPM's build up. It wheelies. It'll push 170mph. It gets 40mpg. It has EFI....no more ******* carbs to fiddle with. It has six gears....as the vmax should have. Neutral doesn't take 5 attempts to find. The brakes have great feel and power bone stock. Handling makes the Vmax feel like a HD bagger with a flat tire. And most of all.....it's extremely comfortable. It's the perfect hooligan-who-still-likes-to-do-miles bike.

As if the demo didn't get me excited enough....the local dealer has ONE leftover 2010 Z on the floor $8600(retail is $10,600).... OTD price is around $9500, minus $250 for a "demo dollars" voucher they give you for taking a demo ride. The financing is reasonable, and between my Vmax and my sled that I was going to sell anyway, I'll end up really only making payments on about 2 grand.

So here it is...

The Z1000 is a good choice, vary nice machine. I had the Ninja ZX10R for a while but soon realized that kind of riding ( 170 mph ) and the **** my pants power that thing produced wasn't going to end well for me :biglaugh: Enjoy your new ride and post up some pics, you will love the Kawasaki forums, those guy's are nuts. I still visit the ZX10R forum to read about there crazy rides:punk:

install a morley jet kit or fcr's and you will find out what a v-max is made off.you will swallow then z1000's. dont sell it.one bike is a history itself..the ther wont be remebered next year

aaaaahhhhhh really, well maybe the gen2 is next then after the love affair is over with Cowasucky. Yamaha rules and will stand by them.

Have fun, ride safe!!!:punk:

I hear ya, I have a Z1000 Booklet in the top drawer right next to me... I just wish it was more Naked... Price sure is right compared to a Gen II and I can get more off for a cash deal.. Damn. :bang head::bang head::bang head::bang head::bang head:

good luck with the sale ryan. those z1000s got amazing reviews i'm not all that surprised, i gotta test one some time might make a good second bike. too much money in mine now to sell it hah.

any bites yet?

Price sounds right on the Z! Other than the hideous tail light/license plat bracket that dangles off the rear fender like 90 year old D cups, its not a bad looking bike.

The Z1000 is an incredible machine. Definitely my next bike. However, you gotta try a Vmax with a jetkit. It makes a world of difference. To bad a jetkit wont solve anything except the power problem.

:rofl_200::rofl_200::rofl_200::rofl_200: That just ain't right Mike!! :rofl_200::rofl_200::rofl_200::rofl_200:

Maybe a reference to a 90 year old man with elephantiasis of the scrotum would be more appropriate? http://elephantiasis.freeyellow.com/elephantiasis_clip.mpg

It just comes down to the love of the Max, yea there are faster bikes now but nothing compares to the Max for raw, mean sounding, kick ass, light to light, hot rod power. And you can tell a Vmax a mile away. Let's hear someone say that about a Z or Zx or any other stamped out plastic looking inline 4. Just sayin

It would take a lot more than a jet kit to get a Vmax up to the level of a Z....is it possible? Sure. Is it cheap? No. And even if it was, you've still got the flighty handling of the Max, and the weight, and the bias tires. And after riding the Z, the Max's motor doesn't seem so special anymore.

I can appreciate the "legend" and "heritage" of the Vmax...but be careful. Get too obsessed with nostalgia and you end up "stuck" with an inferior bike. Harley-Davidson, anyone? I love the sound of the V4 and no, the I4 doesn't compare in the "kickass sound" department. However, personally I love the looks of the Z. It's stubby and aggressive.

I just can't help but feel that my Vmax holds me back in riding. I want to go faster and take corners harder and this bike just won't let me. Plus, I'm getting really, really damn tired of fixing it every week when some little thing goes wrong, plus the two "unfixables"....my midrange misfire and the high speed wobble. Those two things piss me off like crazy. I'm constantly fiddling with my vmax....I never had to touch a thing on my Honda or Suzuki, both of which were far older. The overall quality of this bike hasn't impressed me to be perfectly honest.

I don't have any experience with a Kawi motorcycle, but one of my friends has a Kawi Prairie quad and it has been incredibly tough and reliable.

Hard to argue with your logic Ra, if you aren't feeling it anymore than it may be time to move on. I rode a Z1000 at a bike rally and really loved it. Lets face it, the technology is 20 years newer (and the bike is 13 year newer). I still enjoy the stand out in the crowd aspect of my VMaxes, the sound, heck, even the weight of it, but I can still appreciate the Z for sure. You will enjoy it!

I fully agree these are not dependable bikes. God knows my V65 had alot of better qualitys and I never had to fix ANYTHING but I'll keep the Max ( I did name my son after it) and I'm looking to buy a Diavel as my next bike. But I have way too much into the Max to let it go. But there is a time to move on if your into the pure riding aspect. I'll keep the Max for SHOW and the Diavel fo GO.

To bad you can't have both, but I'm betting you'll love the new bike smell.

good luck with the selling and buying.

I'd like to keep Mr. Max, but I can't afford the Z without the down payment the Max will provide, and when I think about it, what would I do with two motorcycles? If I had a Z and a Vmax sitting next to each other the Vmax would collect dust....better to pass it onto someone who can enjoy it.

Assuming I get $4500 and put that down, the rate would be about $70/month....another $3k(at least) towards it when I sell my sled in the fall and I'd have the balance paid off by next summer.

So far nothing from c-list...going to put it on ebay tonight.

I rode the new z and it is everything you say it is ++ you cant beat the power for the $$, I was about to buy a leftover zx14 i had them throw in a muzzy exhaust, power comander, and fender elim kit for 9800 out the door so dont forget to try for the extras.. I have a ton of coin in my max and know its bad ASS but if you take the money i put in to make it what it is today, was it worth it ,no but to me HELL YEAH it was ,but that is why the mod monkey is never far away i dont care what you have it will never be STOCK. You have to do what makes You happy. Good luck with your new bike. If any
one ask I'll steer them your way to buy your Max.Even with the hipitty hop to the barber shop in the turns, I love my Vmax.
