I finally got to ride mine today Christine took her 85 & I took the 86 out & got lots of looks it must be that kerker on there with no can.LOL I guess I need to find a can soon.

replaced my 85 forks,triple trees , front calipers and rotors today.
forks and trees off a 97

and 01 r6 calipers.
Feels real good at speed, nice and tight.

Did maintenance on the max starting off by washing it, fixed a bad tboost switch, clean and re-oil the K&N filters, etc...
That's when I noticed that the braided vent hose from the oil fill plug to the filters was saturated in oil and the black rubber covers at the puke tank end and hole fill plug end were both ripped down the width of them as if they were blown out???
I fixed it all up as good as new, but it leads me to the question; is this a result of "overpressure" or a case of age? The braided hose/punk tank is about 10 years old.

ACTUALLY , NOT EVEN THAT , JUST BARLEY FAST ENOUGH THAT I DON'T HAVE TO DRAG MY FEET ! .. :biglaugh: .. :confused2:
went thru the engine mounting bolts (most were loose, not bad but not to spec), caliper/wheel bolts, engine case bolts. changed oils (final/engine) synched carbs, new fuel filter as well.
ready for pittsburgh. packing now...

I am in the process of doing the dreaded o ring fix ( Yamaha needs their ass kicked good for using so soft of an o ring to start with ). Going back with the kawi o ring that Sean recomends and the coo button ( this o ring is much more dense and will work much better ). The main problems that I'm having is working under the bike ( I recomend using a lift for this job ) Working on the floor makes it real hard to see every thing, but I will get it done.
