My question is does my 2005 vmax need the furber fix when i order new bearings and have an expert re=do the suspension front end??

You just may need to tighten things up in the head. Do the bounce test and see how it behaves. Here is a video;

As far as an "expert" don't go spending your money at the dealership to get work done. The font end isn't bad. There is plenty of information here, plus in Sean Morley's section there are videos that will guide you. Sean even has a vid of the front forks with his young (12 I think) doing the work.

Rode 65 miles in town. Took care of a lot of the to do list. I saw my first 2010 Vmax down at the yamaha dealer. I was suprized at how good the fit and finish was. I cleaned my rotors with 600 grit wet or dry sandpaper and soap and water. I've got everything bolted and torqued, locktited and polished. Now I need to get the tires mounted and balanced. Then I'll pull off the stock wheels and tires and on with the new. I hope it's going to be worth it.

Question unrelated probally....My front end wobbles from 50 down to 40 mph . It did it with old tire balanced. and now i had yamaha dealer put a new front tire on and it does it the same. They said it may be in the suspension. My question is does my 2005 vmax need the furber fix when i order new bearings and have an expert re=do the suspension front end??

it *should* never need the furbur fix. did you check your 'bounce test'?

Bike was running rich, smelled like gas, etc. Put stock slide springs in and DJ190's in PAJ2. Much better but could lean it out a bit more so going to try lowering the needle a 1/4 clip.

Went for a nice ride before the morning's final exam, gassed it up, 35mpg around town riding. I'm still a tad on the rich side, going to change the PAJ2 this afternoon after the afternoon's final.

Otherwise, no issues at all. Plenty-o-power and smooth running :clapping:

Painted the 85 & the 89 today just need to wet sand & buff them now. Bead Blasted the sliders fork brace & triple tree's on the 89 taking it to the powder coater on Monday.

Finally got to put on my Exactrep Frame Braces and Knee pucks. I really like the looks of them on the Vmax.
Oh and changed the Clutch cover gasket and mid cover gasket. Both were cracked and seeping a little oil.

Went for a nice ride after class. Got me a raspberry/cream soda, then rode home and dug out the digital volt meter to install in the instument cluster this weekend.

I put the 85 back together with the new blue paint. After I finished that I stripped all the paint off the engine on the 89 & repainted it then installed my new Marks exaust & done quite a bit of other cleaning. Hopefully will be riding the 89 at the end of next week.

I got the forks straightened out fluid wise, took it for a quick ride around the neighborhood and they seem to work great. I will get in a more extensive test tomorrow on some of the local frost heaved roads.
I will have to adjust the left caliper as the trailing edge is slightly hitting the heel of the rotor in one spot as it rotates through.

Watched the left side of my 89 drip one more drop of oil... 2 drips or drops in 3 days...:confused2:
