I heard that my '00 is now booked for an inspection by the department of transport here on 18th September. The ******** doing the compliance have had it since April (!!!!) I can't take it any longer.

So I'm gonna buy Lotokids's '85, and see if I can get it here before the '00 gets complied and delivered to me! Wish me luck, summer is coming fast.

I got motivated to get a little more out of my charging system. I found some high resistence in the ground wire (late model OEM R/R), cut it and went direct to the battery post. It was good for another .7 of a volt. 13.6volts at 1500 rpm with everything on now. Stator putting out 50 volts at 2k and no voltage drop on the positive side. So, that's all I'm getting, but good enough.

Washed and waxed it.
Then I put together a new banner for the garage. When I get it printed and sent back it will be 20"x48".

here it is;

good job:clapping:

A friend of mine brought his Vmax over, so I can swap out his brake pads. A few days ago, I installed R1 calipers on it.

It's pretty nice to work on a clean bike. :biglaugh:

Nice bike! It reminds me of my old '86 with that windscreen and saddlebags. I miss it..

One day my bright orange '00 will arrive :damn angry::damn angry:

"KJ," I think I had the same truck as you, mine was a 3/4-ton w/16.5" turbine wheels, a "Prospector" edition, power everything, 2wd, 318 V8 & A727 TorqueFlight. Mine was two-tone but w/dk. blue. I bought it from the original owner, a HVAC contractor. I had it for probably over 12 years. It rode really-well w/about 1000 lb in the bed. Unladen, a rough ride.

A clean bike. Did you know if the guy powder coated the calipers?

In the interest of cleaning up the ugliest part of my bike I sanded and painted the left side of the engine. This winter it's comming out for a soda blast, paint, a little work and inspection. All done on an engine stand this time.

My folks bought the truck new back in '83. I took my driver's test in it in '84.
I picked it up in '05. A lot of great high school and beyond memories in that truck. It's still the way it was back in '83, with the exception of a tach and a stroker motor. When it turned 100k on the clock it got treated to the new engine, rebuilt transmission and transfer case. It has about 30k on the new running gear, It doesn't get the best of mileage with the edelbrock 790 carb on it, but with a 33gal tank, I can still make the 365 miles to Anchorage on one fill up and still have enough gas to drive around a little. I also added PIAA headlights and the tube grill. I love the thing, etched windows from my mom, makes it that more special.

The calipers aren't powder coated. Sam got them off eBay, I rebuilt them and hit them with gloss caliper paint, before I put them on.

after installing my new adjustable vboost controller ( thanks sean) i had to decide where to put the led that indicates when the boost is on. I didn't want it pointing straight at me as that would be like looking into a led flashlight. So i took apart the gauges and drilled a 1/4 hole in the compartment where the blank is and pointed it towards the tach. Add a little silicone to the wire and below the led just to hold it in place and now my tach has a blue tint to it when the boost comes on. It might be a little dim in the daylight but sure looks good in the garage. :biglaugh:
Later, bill

nice, i like the way it lights up the clocks
and it gives me an idea - a few more leds and diodes and you could change the color of all the dash lights when the vboost engages...

Well, I put my thinking cap on and drew up a circuit diagram. I'm going to take power from the Vboost LED on my adjustable controller (stock Vboost doesn't have this) to change the color behind the clocks at 4,000rpm and another wire from my shift light (switched ground) to change the color again at 8,500rpm
Circuit 3.jpg
And here's what the prototype looks like! The 3 LEDs you see will be changed to supply power to a ring of LEDs around the clocks
IMAG0944.jpg
And it works!! I'm now waiting patiently for a bunch of coloured LEDs to come in the post

removed the starter and gave it a good cleaning and inspection....bent the tabs up on the brush assembly while i had it apart. also flopped the coolant hose over to the correct position on the engine. i think i may have all the minor issues taken care of now. should be able to ride it with confidence now.:punk: i hope:rofl_200:

Yesterday I rebuilt my slave cylinder Today I did the oil pump oring fix. Just about all buttoned up & getting in shower & taken her for a blast .

Installed a new Avon Cobra rear tire. This will be the first time using an Avon Cobra, always had the Metzeler ME880 on the back, but they are just getting way too expensive.

Metzeler ME880 - 180/55ZR18 - $345.00 cdn (tax in)
Avon Cobra - 180/55ZR18 - $245.00 cdn (tax in)

Hopefully they hold up as well as the Metz did.

Mike

I received my Carbtune pouch - nice and much better than the bloody cardboard box it came in!

Also heard my '00 is apparently just days away from getting complied to Oz standard, I may actually get it in September. Woohoo!!!
