:rofl_200: Nah, I just went out for a little ride but when the CT state line showed up I said...HEY! I gots a idea...:hmmm:

The rest is history.......!
sweet good stuff man. :punk:

well gonna go work on my carb filter mod inspired by the post on here where they add the three inch copper pipe.

Edit. so I ended up adding some rubber couplings i got from the hardware store. two reasons one was the filters were popping off the carbs on their own, neither leaving the clamps loose or making them snug to tight worked. then I also saw a post about lengthening the filter by adding copper pipe. so trying to do this on a budget i just took the couplings , cut them a little and trimmed to fit lower on the carb and voila!!!! two rear filters are just snug up against faux tank cover and front two have room but don't seem to be moving, yet.

so here are some pics and real easy and fast. the couplings were about 8 bucks each at home depot.

oh ya,i used a 1.5 to 2" reduced coupler and worked perfectly. 1.5" slid over carbs and the 2" side the filters slid into them.

Please excuse my ignorance, but what does this do for the carbouration and performance ??
more H.P. ??
better fuel feed through velocity??:ummm:

have to read the thread again i'll find it but think it was better mid-range on stage 7 set up's. longer air path etc. my brain seem to forget why it want to do things pretty fast these days ahhhh

edit
ok here is what i was reading. but mostly did it to help hold the filters on, they kept popping off even without engine running, pain in the butt.

Got my bike all put back together!!!! Here are my notes:

1. Solid motor mounts really make things vibrate when you're hard on the throttle.
2. Sean's 5th gear Overdrive is FRIGGIN AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!
3. Now that I've removed the engine, split the cases, and put it all back together again, I feel like I can tackle ANY project with relative ease.

can you elaborate? What rpm are worse? Is it the higher the stronger the vibes?

what's your rpm on top now for 75, 85, and 95 mph?

also your second gear is fixed right?

I only took it out for a quick ride to make sure everything was put together right, so I didn't have a chance to check out RPMs at all those speeds. I was going to do that today, but it's flippin raining outside. Once the weather clears up, I'll make not of all that stuff and let you know. And as far as the vibrations, yes it seems that the higher the RPMs, the more it vibrates. I'm assuming that's just the solid motor mounts and not that I put something together wrong. Or so I hope. At cruising speed, there are hardly any vibrations.

Yeah, 2nd gear is fixed. I did the DD Mod, thinking that it would have fixed the problem before I realized it was the tranny, and I'm seriously thinking about taking that 2nd spring out of there. THe clutch feels too hard for my liking still.

good to hear man. what a pita for something that yamaha should be paying for imo.

i'm gonna get a barsnake for when i do my solid mounts. right now after putting the hoelshot pipes on they increased noticably.

Yeah I'm thinking about getting a Barsnake too. The vibes won't hurt me now, but I'm sure on a longer ride it would. ALthough I ride like a maniac, so it may be needed sooner!

yea mine doesn't bug me until after 150 miles in the cold. then my hands go tingly., but once they go once and i stop, they don't do it again. weird. but either way i think it'd help.

Got my #152.5 main jets from Toolman today so, it`s off with the carbs again LOL and my seat still isn`t right so I`m going to stuff it with memory foam and see what my arse thinks.
