Put air in the tires and rode to work. 26*F when I left and 38 when I came home over lunch.

And I was sniveling about riding this morning at 58 degrees. You had to be freezing. Thank goodness for Vboost to pump the adrenalin.

I had long johns on and a good pair of winter gloves. Kevlar reinforced jacket and head warmer help too. I was straddling that warm engine like a cold cat. Speaking of pussy, still have that kitty friend Lankee? :biglaugh:

I've tried to ride in winter gloves, can't feel the levers well enough, i've heard snowmobile gloves work good b/c they are still thin on the palm side...

what do you guys use for winter gloves? I have a pair of non-insulated leather, and they are good until about 45?

I use something similar to this but don't remember mine being this expensive.

I don't usually wear any gloves at all, if my hands get cold I just ratchet the temp lever a little more to the right!! :biglaugh: :biglaugh: :biglaugh:

Actually a pair of surgical gloves under your regular gloves work pretty well--kind of like a divers wet suit.

Of all things, we have still have no snow. Hit plus 10 c today. So I fired up the max and had a ride. First time on November 18 that I can ever remember being able to ride. They are calling for flurries tonight so it might be the last till spring, but you never know.

Up here in Canada I use these

They are thin, have gel palms, thermolite lining, are waterproof and to boot they have a wiper on each thumb to clean your visor in the rain.

Continued messing with my wings today, think I finally got them where I want them, altho the setscrews that fix their orbital motion don't "set" all that great, some drilling may be in order.

The other thing that has been bugging me about the forward controls is the freaking HUGE operator bars. I can see it on the brake side where you might have to apply some serious pressure, but on the shifter side, an operator that's nearly the size of the whole peg just gets in my damn way and keeps me from adjusting my feet freely on the freeway.

And there's no need for it, I'm shifting a bike tranny, not jacking up a car. I'm all for mechanical advantage, but overkill much?

So anyway I was eyeballing the shift operator today wondering where I could get a shorter unit to replace it with, how much extra bits cost, etc.

Then I scored 20 rat-bike points and replaced it with a 13mm deep socket, 3/8" drive.

Just the right size, and out of my way when I don't need it. The socket obviously holds the nut securely (just dropped an acorn nut inside) and the M6 shoulder bolt fills the original mounting hole with no slop.

Gonna stop by the tool crib in the morning and pick up a nice chrome snap-on for this application, just have one of my Huskies on there atm to see how it would work.

When in doubt, fake it!

It's dark and it's an iPhone pic, but it's a pic. Here's my high dollar super custom shifter!

Grrr...pulling up to park in poorly lit lot I had not been in before. Small ramp out of a storage building, went across it sideways (not seeing it), came down off the edge of it with the front tire and went to put my left foot down, but couldn't reach the ground. *splat*

Slider saved the plastics, but still managed to get the stator cover, nicked the left mirror and my pride. mc-man and friends were there to pour a beer down me and offer consolation.

The slider is gonna take another month to get (from Germany), but it probably saved me over $1k. Suzuki wants $150+ for an OEM mirror, so I'm looking around for some good aftermarket ones before being bent over by them.

There's your story. The bumming me out factor is still ongoing, but finally getting the stator cover replaced has helped some. One would have thought the 20 coats of wax on the thing would have just let me buff it out, no? :)

After two friggin' months, the final parts (mirror extensions) came in from Germany and the Burger King is officially put back together.

Holy cow Jayhawk, timing's a bit 'retarded' with the parts replacement end of it, huh! Glad you got her back on line, your world is now complete! :thumbs up::thumbs up::thumbs up:

Drove home from work in my truck. GOT 11" TO 12" OF SNOW YESTERDAY FROM 4pm TO APROX 11pm. Opened the garage door, slowly tiptoed by the covered ALMTY in the garage. At the otherside of the garage opened the door, stopped, looked over my shoulder towards ALMTY. I could hear her whimpering. Turning out the light and closing the door I could feel the tear falling down my cheek........its going to be a long winter:snow:

Took the whole ass end off of mr max today, taillight, fender and supporting bracket.

I have a replacement tailight en route from Yankee, but I fabbed one up for the meantime out of a trailer light I had laying around.

Added shorty rear signals and some blue LED lighting under the rear seat that shines onto the tire and the pipes. ATM it looks sort of cavernous with nothing there, but new shocks with a 2" drop should be here thursday to take care of that.

No idea where I'mma put the license plate, it looks like some fabrication will be in order.
