Obviously, it's the owner's prerogative to sell or not, just as the buyer has his/her own choice to make. However, I agree with others, who have said that some words of caution are fair enough. There are already laws in place to determine age and skill levels necessary to operate a motorcycle. But this guy was self-righteous enough to believe that he knew better what was right for the customer. I wonder how that owner would feel, if he wanted to buy something for his company, and the supplier said, "Oh, no, I won't sell that to you. You're being fiscally irresponsible. You don't have enough in the bank to be making such a large purchase." Suppose he wanted a plate of lasagna, and the server said, "Sorry, Sir, but your cholesterol is obviously too high to be eating that. I'll let you order a salad, with lite dressing, if you want."

It's not anyone's right or responsibility to save another person from him/herself.

+1 on the concept and principle.

I think everyone has a right to kill themselves as they see fit...I honestly say that w/o any sarcasm....

But if they want me to sell them the rope, gun, knife, pills or bike and I have a pretty good idea of what they might end up doing I'd have reservations as well if I was an individual seller.
If I was a dealer tho' I'd overcome those reservations.

Yep. Any person with the $$$ can go in and buy a litre bike which is one hell of a lot deadlier than a vmax if ridden irresponsibly. They handle way better than a vmax for sure, and that might be even worse because you get too comfortable too quick on them.

He needs to close his shop if he's gonna determine who he sells bikes to and who he doesn't. You can get killed on any bike just as quickly as on a vmax, it doesn't matter what make or model it is.

+1 any bike will kill you if you are a dummas.

i would never consider giving a V-max to a new rider. i magine that when sometimes i trade with a friends sportbike gsxr 1000 k5 who has great experience with bikes ,he owned in the past 2 triumphs, gs 1150 adventure , hayabusa , vfr 800 and he still owns honda supermagna 750, he finds it very difficults in the first corners. and and in the other corners he turns like he drives a truck cause he think the bike will sleap in the corner if leaned a little more. in that point i am scared and take the bike back .
